Remembering the talks with GGG stalled because he refused to fight in Las Vegas. Could this be a ploy by Golden Boy to have GGG come around and accept the offer to fight in Vegas?
... Of course... no doubt... GGG was only asking for Robert Byrd as ref, and for Adalaide Byrd as judge...
While I wasn't complaining when Triple g was negotiating to fight Munguia, I'm also not gonna complain if Canelo fights him.
While I don't think neither Canelo or Triple g should fight Munguia since they are both level's above him, it's totally different if Canelo fights him instead of Triple g.
The difference is that Canelo just fought Daniel Jacob's and he is willing to fight Sergei Kovolav (another dangerous fight) while Triple g isn't willing to take huge risk's against top competition cause he wants to preserve his opportunity for another Canelo pay day..
So Triple g is only willing to take easy fights while Canelo is willing to take risk's...
Canelo looking to move up yet another weight class and fight Kovelev a light heavyweight to add to his legacy while GGG is trying to drag up another 154lber? That is the story of both these guys careers. What a puzzzy.
This was your opening paragraph in the thread about ggg fighting munguia, are you going to call canelo a puzzzy or do you have double standards, why do I get the feeling you will avoid this question
Lol...yea. Reminds me of the ggg/charlo vs Adams thing.
Yep exactly, forgot about that one...was getting a sense of deja vu...reminds me of when Derevychenko was enforced as Canelo's mandatory too.
Honestly I was stunned at the stuff I was seeing in that thread about how that was unfair, etc...and how that was different to GGG's situation with Dervy...
...how Canelo shouldn't be forced to take that fight while GGG should have been...the insistence that GGG take that fight on short notice when it was Canelo that got suspended for PEDs and put GGG in a tough spot to begin with etc...I just couldn't believe that that story wasn't a teaching moment for a lot of people lol.
You hope that moments like that/this can kind of hold a mirror up to some of our faces and make us realize our own biases...but that doesn't always seem to happen lol...just an example of how fanatical it can get sometimes I suppose.
I guess at my age (50+), I do have some sympathy for Munguia! Somebody told Mike Tyson, that at 20, he was ready to face Trevor Berbick for the WBC Heavyweight title! They were correct in their assessment, however, had they been incorrect, I wouldn't blame Tyson, because those GROWN MEN, who trained and promoted Mike Tyson should have known better! Munguia is 22 years old! You and I feel he's not ready, but some GROWN MEN know he's not ready, but they're convincing this young man that he is! Remember, these people were ready to throw him in with GGG not long ago too! If this kid is badly beaten, I say shame on them, and not Munguia!
I have zero problems with this fight. Zero. I don't see where all the complaints and nagging is coming from, but this is NSB.
And why is everybody bringing up GGG as if his career parallels Canelo's? It doesn't. Period.
As far as I'm concerned. Y'all want GGG's poor career to bring Canelo's down soooo bad, but, the point is, GGG needs Canelo, not the other way around.
Get over it. Canelo/Mungia will be a way better fight than the Fielding and the Jacobs outings combined.
Thing is, some of yall are caping so hard for GGG, but he's fighting the Steve Rolls of the world and hoping Canelo gives him another payday, while Canelo's busy and consistently making strides.
I dont know why this is a surprise to anyone? there has been talks of these guys fighting in 2019 last year. Not the most exciting fight that's for sure but they know when a Mexican vs another Mexican fight its an event. Canelo will play with him obviously and make it go 8-9 rounds. hell take a few shots but Munguia has zero chance of winning this fight. Maybe the game plan is
Canelo Jaime in September.
Kovalev Canelo in May 2020.
GGG vs Andrade 2019/2020.
Canelo vs GGG/Andrade winning in Sept 2020.
Canelo is the #1 most petty boxer in the sport. Dude is only going after Munguia because GGG was looking at him as a possible opponent. I bet if GGG was saying he was fighting Charlo, Canelo would throw them millions to take the fight away from him. This **** is beyond ridiculous some middle school BS going on in boxing.
