I can see a argument its not a cherrypick even if I'd personally disagree (cuz I kinda hate calling a guy with a belt a cherry pick, but Rocky was a cherry pick so lets not act like Canelo isn't unique with cherry picking title holders), but there is no way this is a dangerous fight for Canelo.

Kov is old & past prime at 36. He's 3-3 in his last 6 fights. He quit vs Ward the 2nd time. He got KO'd by Alvarez the 1st time. The size difference here isn't gonna be as big of an advantage as you think & I suspect with w/e the catchweight is if there is one + the hydration clause involves will even that out a whole lot more even if you think there is a size advantage.

Kovalev is 3-3 in his last 6. He quit in that 2nd Ward fight. He got KTFO to Alvarez in their first fight. He's past prime. This mfer ain't worth as much as Jacobs. Jacobs lost 1 fight in a 9ish year period of time to GGG, that many people disputed. He's considered a big enough draw to have been guaranteed a Canelo fight upon signing with DAZN.

Kovalev made that $2.5 on a PPV that did around 125k. A Canelo PPV would make him around what Jacobs made if not higher.
That don't even matter when you are 3-3 in your last 6 with 2 KO losses. If you could be the C side Kovalev would be the C side in this matchup.

If you're taking away PPV upside you have to offer higher guarantees. The reason so many fighters wanted to fight Floyd & Canelo was the amount of money they'd make. The $4 mil or so they offered Kovalev isn't some great deal when he's more than double that on a PPV with Canelo. It's only a mil and a half off his highest payday. That's not exactly life changing money.
Old guys who've went 3-3 with 2 KO losses in their last 6 fights got CTE if they think they got life changing money coming to them with that recent form. If you can get it fine, but he for sure don't deserve it. That said I suspect this is his biggest payday so he should be happy with that.

Taking away the PPV upside you're also taking away incentives. That upside has to be replaced
He brings nothing except a belt with sh^tty recent form. This would have very lil appeal if it was on PPV. No one is excited for this fight now. Or I'm not seeing it anyway I know that much. And until I hear differently I'm assuming Kov is still walking away with his biggest payday of his career so idk that he can b^tch about it.

I don’t think there would be a catchweight but I’m almost certain there would be about 10 to 15 rehydration clause which would be semi reasonable

How is triple your salary to fight a small dude a low ball offer? Is that what they want or what they were offered. Not sure of the details completely, but I would think anything around 4 to 5 million is great for him.

          Kova isn't a star.

His only leverage is his belt and his weight class size that will add to Canelo's legacy.

          Just take the money idiot.

kova needs to sign with dazn where the big bucks are paid... until then no one is going to offer him dazn money...
dazn is taking care of their fighters, if kova was offered 6.5mill and think he can get more somewhere else then good for him... canelo isnt desperate for the fight , he has options, lets see how kova does at the end of his career without canelo...
not much better than luis ortiz i suspect, lol...

What makes you think there won't be a catchweight?

Randomly thinking about this more & Kov getting ~$6M for Canelo should include him mowing Oscar's yard for the rest of the year.

If thats not his biggest payday does anyone know what is? And again lets remember this is a 3-3 guy whos been stopped in 2 of his last 6 fights. Kov should feel blessed he got a call at all cuz NO ONE was asking for this fight.

Technically 3-3 is correct but in reality 4-1 and 1 no contest is more accurate and the one loss was avenged.

Lmfao. But yea they need to be talking less about lowballing & just be happy their phone wasn't already shut off when Oscar called.

Jacobs got $2.5 million for fighting Canelo. That was the official NSAC purse.

If DAZN threw in extra money on top of that because he signed a contract with them how is that relevant to Kovalev?

Is he planning to sign a multi-fight deal with DAZN too?
