If DAZN knew anything about boxing this is what they WOULD do

I think DAZN needs Canelo Ggg fight now for financial reasons and don’t want to risk one losing. If people on this sight we’re tru boxing fans they would want the third fight now but they are tied up in the politics and hate.Canelo needs to win in big fashion with no controversy. These same people put down GGG as a protected over rated bum but then can’t explain why there atg Nellie can’t beat this bum without controversy. He lost the first fight end of story.I would like to see Canelo put up the ultimate performance to shut every one up and GGG go into the fight like a 38 year old champ who feels this is it for him.We definitely will see fireworks then.Comment

But what if they think that Canelo vs GGG in Sept brings in more subscribers than Canelo vs anybody in Sept and GGG vs TBA in October?Canelo in September is going to bring subscribers no matter who he fights
They smart thing to do would be to tell GGG to pick an opponent that'll bring subscribers in October. Schedule it a month and a day after Canelo's fight that way people have to re-up their subscriptions. Then you have Joshua vs. Ruiz II rematch a day and a month after the GGG fight. Then you have Canelo v. GGG in May. That's the smart way up play it and maximize subscribers. That's a solid 3 month run of gaining and keeping subscribers. It also keeps you in the media for three consecutive months.
If you have GGG/Canelo III in September how to you stop those subscribers from cancelling in October?
Unlike you, they have the actual numbers to work with, rather than speculative guesstimates.Comment

I mean if Canelo wants to fight someone other than GGG in September, then they can't do nothing about it.
Canelo vs Kovalev on September 14
GGG vs Andrade/whoever on October 19
Joshua vs Ruiz II late November or early December
Something like that makes sense for DAZN to close the year and maximize their subscribers.Comment

This isn’t a ‘if they understand boxing’ thing. It’s just good business to stagger out attraction events (even if they aren’t all PPV-level, they have A-side gravitas) to keep people re-upping their subscriptions. Just makes common sense — and maybe once in a while add a second attraction fight at the tail end of a 30-day period after a bigger fight like Canelo-GGG to make people say ‘wow, I really need to keep this’ instead of dropping their sub right away after the one fight they really want.Comment

You’re missing the point. If Canelo or GGG lose then the 3rd fight becomes far less valuable. That fight is a major draw for DAZN, they need a fight like that in order to recoup some of the huge investment they’ve made in Canelo and GGG. Say Canelo or GGG loses to a guy like Andrade or Smith who isn’t a draw, that would be a major hit to the stock of Canelo or GGG who DAZN have invested so highly in. How will they recoup that investment if their prize assets lose?
I like your idea of retaining subscribers. But your strategy seems way too risky IMO. I think I good idea would be to tie people in. For instance you have to subscribe for a minimum of 3-6 months at a time. I think the WWE network originally tied people in for 6 months, so people just couldn’t sign up for a month to watch the big events like Wrestlemania then unsubscribe. Then when they achieved their goal of 1m subscribers they reduced it to a month by month basis. This proved very successful for them.Comment

Dazn has proven not to have the business sense to do something that smart and simple.
They would rather pay a guy $35 million a fight that brings them $10 million in subscribers.Comment
