Keep plugging along, Floyd. They said the same thing about Hopkins.

I guess it helps that Hopkins eventually took on a challenge in Taylor. Then after 2 losses, he took on another BIG challenge in Tarver. Its hard to criticize a guy that takes on a legit challenge.

In Floyd's case, he took on a legitimate loser in Judah. I credit him for wanting to get at DLH, but that fell through. Now a legit challenge is staring him right in his face. 1 Fight deal, 8millionfor a guy he claims is, "EASY WORK." Hopkins would have jumped all over a deal like this back in 2003. Take the free money and run. Hmmmm... Must be some reason he's not taking "EASY WORK," for 8million... You do the math..

In 2003, you couldn't find a single Hopkins fan on any message board anywhere, and that is a fact. ESPN bashed him, HBO bashed him, everybody criticized Hopkins for not making good fights. They criticized him for not making the Roy rematch a reality and they criticized him for not fighting Toney after Toney crushed Jirov. Now it's 2006, and everybody is a Hopkins fan. Nobody remembers that just three years ago, the entire world hated this man. Larry Merchant bashed Hopkins face to face like none other. Even Max Kellerman had enough of Hopkins' **** by the summer of 2003, and no one cared about Bernard. Now on this board, every other person has a Hopkins avatar and claims they were down since day one and all sorts of bull****. Sure, he had fans after he destroyed Trinidad, but that was more because a lot of people wanted to see Trinidad go down and be the one to call it. After Hopkins fought Trinidad, he fought nobodies for three more years before reaching De La Hoya, and everybody wanted to see Hopkins lose that one. And it wasn't just because De La Hoya is such a boxing darling. It was because PEOPLE HATED HOPKINS. Now you'd be hard pressed to find one boxing expert or fan who doesn't kiss Hopkins' ass all day long. Hopkins played it right, and Mayweather will too.

Right now, so many people hate Mayweather, but to Floyd I say this: just keep plugging along and doing your thing, and nobody will remember how they felt about you in 2006. Except of course people like me.
I loved reading your post. I completely agree with you to. New and old fans alike jump around to what ever is popular opinion at the moment.

So many people on this board are mistaking disapproval for hate and it's sad (not to mention alittle pathetic)...

I don't think Castillo can ever win back the respect he's lost in the past year

Maybe if he destroyed Ricky Hatton or Cotto. But if either of them destroyed him, it would be a problem.

I don't think Diego's talking about 'in ring' respect... although i don't think Castillo's fanbase has been hurt that bad..

I dont think people are going to anticipate any PPV he might be on, if hes even on one again just based on the fact that nobody knows if hell put his all into making weight, so from that perspective your right.

Let's put it this way: would YOU buy a ticket to a Castillo fight? Would YOU make the drive to see him compete and pay for a hotel? Would YOU pay for a plane ticket?
