Look at the impacts closely with shavers they are cataclysmic there's all sorts of fallout and energy being dispersed, (odd things happening) people being bounced around the ring if it doesn't land flush (at the end of the punch where its fastest ie it hits early) , when it hits flush (at the end) theres all sorts of ripples and energy smashing through their entire body and a big initial smash as if it was something very heavy they got hit by like a battering ram or something, (no head stays where it was b4 it was hit like with other punchers it almost ALWAYS gets flung out the way by that battering ram like power) its one of those things that is not immediately obvious visually, but the words of teh greats Im gonna go with, and seeing how foreman did in the modern era and the older era it tells me everything (the greats all said shavers hit harder than foreman and lyle). Deontay is one of the most powerful guys for sure ever, though.

Lyle is another guy taht isnt so impressive in the KO highlights but is again harder hitting than foreman, reason being is he was so powerful he liked to fight in close where he could generate force still and his opponent could not,

      From what?

Judging by the knockout ratios Wilder is clearly the harder and heavier puncher of the two.

Who wins the fight is very debatable. It's whoever gets off first would probably decide who would win this fight.

I will say that Deontay was the more athletic of the two and had a much better chin and stamina than Earnie Shavers also.
What those numbers dont tell you is the quality of opposition. Shavers fought much higher opposition

Shavers is hitting hardest despite not being as explosive or quick or athletic as other punchers, with more text book looking power shots that are sharp crisp and explosive, hes basically got the heaviest (and most powerful) hands of all, and they are only truly fast/crisp at the end of the shot, its also very clear his hips are wayyy stronger (and punches heavier) than anyone's just because of how pushy his punches are when they dont get up to speed and how punch drunk he makes people when they are hit with early slow punches. - Just a rough guess from looking

Who else burst a glove for example?
If you added up all of Shavers opponents records, wins, losses, it's probably close to 55-45 ratio wise which is pretty bad.

The way I look at it is this, in the 70s the world population was 3.3 billion, today that number is 7.7 billion. Now, not only has the population doubled, we've made serious technological advancements, whether that's medicine, surgery, communication, transportation etc. It leads to a higher & healthier stable of fighters. Ex. We've made advancements in surgeries for example which allow athletes to avoid career ending injuries or how to exercise to avoid injury.

Furthermore the older HW division was mostly isolated to America, it was sooo much harder for a guy to get exposure or just get here, in some cases like Eastern Europe boxing was banned. I think this era is closer an actual world tournament than the previous era.

Deontay has more effective punches because you cant dodge them (they are faster) but shavers hits harder.

(thats why he has a higher KO % and a better KO highlight reel despite not hitting as hard, its the speed)

Look at what shavers does to a mans head xD

End thread......... Alex Kid wins as usual, trolls keep firing blanks

You ain’t going to convince someone who dismisses shavers as a crusierweight and anything that Foreman Lyle or Holmes and Ali said about him doesn’t count.Wilder labored for knockouts in a lot of his defenses vs bums going 8or more rounds before he could take them out.

                  Wilder. Easily.

It's like asking who hits harder, Ike Williams or Tommy Hearns.

Foreman was considered more of a "clubbing" puncher, per GilClancy and Qawi.

He had a robinson like ability to pounce opponents with a flurry of power punches.

Shows you how dangerous speed is combined with power, Mike Tyson is the perfect example of that, so is Roy Jones Jr (also the 2 most exciting boxers of all time) because that speed and power combined produces the best KO highlight reels, the most sudden knockouts, and the most knockouts, usually, its also spectacular to see

Well that's very true. However, it's equivalent of making an argument that Wladimir Klitschko has never fought anyone good, an all time great or any HOF'ers in his career just only mandatory challengers.

Both Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko through no fault of their own are byproducts of their generation and eras that the two have fought in. Of course, no one can match the Heavyweight era that Earnie Shavers fought in; The Golden era of the 1960s and 1970s.

Those guys were a lot hungrier and meaner then. They wanted it a whole more than this current era of HW's want it.

Lastly, by the time Shavers had as many fights as Deontay Wilder has now, he had already had two losses on his record and one of those losses came by way of knockout.
