Comments Thread For: Andy Ruiz: I Know Joshua's Flaws, He's Not a Good Boxer

I beg to differ. He should keep his distance and make Ruiz pay for trying to get inside by getting him with the right hook. His problem was that he tried to get in close and then gave Ruiz a shot to hit him with a big punch. Anytime that Joshua threw the jab to the body and stood upright he was doing fineThe only scenario I can see Joshua defeating Ruiz is by sticking and moving by fighting off the back foot. However, He just can't move but he also has to punch.
That is going to require a lot of energy and stamina. He would have to lose a minimum of at least 25 lbs or more to pull that one off because at 250 lbs; He'll be just too heavy with all those muscles to box like that.Comment

Its true that AJ was getting caught clean with hooks from Ruiz and a straight but the thing you missed was that AJ did throw quick jabs and it usually kept Ruiz off guard and stationary for a moment but Ruiz did a great job of pushing the pace and making AJ use up his tank more than he wanted which IMO made a difference besides the speed advantage!Except Ruiz was countering his Jab was a left hook right hand quit effectively. Its the reason you didn't see much jabbing from Joshua.
He simply can't jab fast enough to avoid getting countered by the MUCH faster Ruiz.
Thats a problem that I don't think Joshua can solve, unless he gets considerably faster.
I also don't think Joshua has the stamina to jab and move all night. Ruiz for how he looks actually has good stamina judging from all his other fights.
Baring a situation where they exchange, and he catches Ruiz again, but actually manages to knock Ruiz out cold, I don't think he wins the rematch.
AJ’s biggest problem is his stamina and now possibly his confidence!
So yes I think AJ can win but would I bet on it? not one pennyComment

Like I said already - I haven't abandoned him - because I never rated him from the day he turned pro! I've always said he was over hyped.Comment

No you're talking ****. Rating Briggs, Mercer etc isn't the point - the point is they hit hard, and they landed big shots on Lewis. It's not irrelevant because EVERYONE at HW has KO power. KO power is irrelevant when you don't have other skills to back it up. A guy like David Price for example hits very hard but does he have the skill to back up it up? No. Is he a threat to the champions? No. You can go up and down the list and find hundreds of guys like that in boxing. Almost all of Wilder's opponents have had KO power, whether it was Eric Molina, Gerald Washington, or Szpilka.
It's like you cant go from struggling with a 7-9 part time journeyman to world class over night, at least in this era. Or getting starched by some no name like Briggs or going life and death with an old obese Foreman.
So if it takes a guy 1 shot to KO opponents and another hundreds of shots, it doesn't mean the guy that can 1 punch KO people hits harder? That makes zero sense.
The 90s talent pool was NOT deeper, nor were international boxers better. The world population has literally increased by 2 BILLION people since the 90s.
We have the best and first Mexican HW all time, and we are seeing guys among ALL divisions from different countries the best their country has ever produced.
Examples:
Ruiz, BEST Mexican HW of all time
Gilberto Ramirez, David Benavidez, BEST Mexican SMWs and LHWs of all time.
Briedis-Best Latvian fighter all time.
ggg-Best Kazakh fighter of all time
Usyk-best Euro cruiser all time.
Beterbiev-Best Chechnyan fighter of all time.
Etc.
I'm not talking **** I'm holding guys to the SAME standards that you're not.
If he had a weak chin, he couldn't have gone his whole career only hitting the deck twice.
Look at Khan - he had a weak chin, Prescott wasn't a top fighter but he still ktfo Khan.
If Lewis had a weak chin, one of his opponents would have done that to him. You think he went through his whole career only being hit hard twice by McCall and Rahman??
Dumbass.Comment

Lol they dont hit that hard. It's generally accepted LL+Tyson are considered the 2 hardest punchers of that generation and they do not hit as hard based on how well their opposition (including journeymen) handled their power. Therefore everyone else in the division like a Mercer or a Tua doesn't hit that hard.No you're talking ****. And Rahman/McCall were journeymen level in the 00s, Mercer was dispatched and stopped with EASE by Wlad, again, hits harder than anyone from the 90s, couldn't even drop Jennings or Fury.Comment

I never rated Joshua, he was a total hype job since this Olympic gift gold medal.
Ruiz has a very good engine and output, better ring craft and technique and more heart.
When Joshua was 15, he was selling steroids and learning to read.
When Ruiz was 15 he was boxing grown men.Comment

Your logic is laughable. I can't take you seriously. You've also contradicted yourself, first you said Briggs, Mercer etc hit hard but you didn't rate them, now you're actually saying they didn't even hit hard - laughable.Lol they dont hit that hard. I respect Ruiz opinion but find it hard to believe how josh isn't a good boxer? I mean I always thought josh was obsessed, left no stone unturned.
But maybe he's training hard but not smart. Needs new trainer I guessComment
