  • Tyson Fury “Double Standard ??”

So I just seen BoxingEgo’s Latest video, which I’ll provide link to in description. I want to first say the Gypsy king looked good in his last bout displaying his craftiness and reflexes.

My question to the board is do you think there is this “double standard” with the casual boxing fans. Tyson Fury is a great Boxer and has been receiving a lot of Praise for being knocked down against Wilder and beating a “Tom Swartz’s” in great fashion.

I mean if we all remember correctly wasn’t people saying Mayweathers style was boring, he does nothing but run, he has no punching power etc you name it, they’ve said it. But when Tyson Fury does it....he considered a Boxing Guru. I mean Floyd has made guys like Canelo, Marquez, Pacquiao, and Corrales look like easy work but Fury looks fantastic again Tom Swartz’s and is put on pedestals.

There is no double standard at all. The vast majority of people online call fury a dull fighter

Imagine if Floyd or Wilder fought a guy ranked outside the top 50 and didn’t use drug testing. We’d never hear the end of it

yes there is a double standard and you would be in denial to say its not

people hated that style and called it running and boring, even called it the slick African American style... but its amazing that when certain fighters do it, its praised. I remember GGGee boxed and used the shoulder roll and fans who usually bash Floyd for actually moving when a boxing glove was coming towards his head were praising GGG saying SEE HE CAN BOX AND HAS DEFENSE. fury being 6'9 and boxing like that is something to marvel at indeed, I love it. But the same ones who bash certain fighters for fighting that way and calling it running and boring now praising it is funny to me but whatever. I guess I'm the racist one bring race into the equation right?

Not to mention if Floyd or wilder fought schwartz (a guy not even ranked top 30) after avoiding a rematch to settle a draw... we wouldn't hear the end of it.

yeah they would call wilder a crack head bum fighting bums who avoided a fury rematch! there would be hella threads about why he didn't do any drug testing as well!

                What.?

The general consensus is that Mayweather is the best fighter of his generation. He gets a lot of credit. The only people who try to discredit him are some bitter Pacquiao fans or people who simply don’t like his rich and flashy lifestyle

Also, if we’re simply talking boxing, I think Fury gets credit for his style because he is a huge guy pulling off boxing skills that aren’t seen by guys that style

But Mayweather is rightly put on a pedestal by honest boxing folk. Don’t think otherwise because of a few cranks on boxing forums

I watched the Fury fight with a couple of my neighbors, neither is a big boxing fan. Both were impressed, amazed even at Fury. THAT is how you build a PPV audience, unfortunately. Tyson (Mike) did it and to some extent Floyd and Manny too. If you want to impress casual fans, give them an overwhelming dominant performance and it really doesn't matter so much against who, because most don't know the difference. Schwarz was undefeated, he must be really good.

The only hate that Fury is getting is on this board by trolls and alts. Twitter is completely in love with the guy.

As for the OP, Fury won the fight with Wilder and was robbed blind, and that's what the public remember.s
