Is the weight gap from light heavyweight to cruiser insane?

I still think that SHW division would just be Tyson Fury holding 5 belts (ring & ABC’s) and making fat club fighters who shouldn’t get title shots look ridiculous. I can’t think of anyone over 250 that could stand a chance with Fury off the top of my head.it doesn't matter what Wilder did, nobody else punches like him
he is an exception..... because his punching power is exceptional
which is why I suggested that we cannot use David Haye as a benchmark for beating Valuev
also, Breazeale could have made 250 if there was a weight restriction
they will never remove 168..... 160-175 is a near impossible jump
it does not matter that Hopkins did it..... because he is another exception, what with him being exceptional and all that
fair point that the super-heavyweight division would not be stacked..... we would not want to see meaningless/regurgitated fights..... maybe 240 is a better limit..... not sure tbh, just floating ideas

Fury would make 250... same with Breazeale... same with Joshua
they would he heavyweights
heavyweight would be... " normal "
if introduced, I see a super-heavyweight division evolving into a combination of...
1) " freaks "..... guys like Valuev..... monsters of nature
2) guys who will not put in the work..... Miller..... a lot of islanders (while not being tall) struggle with weight, but hit like a truck..... and would produce entertaining slugfests
3) bigger/older guys..... who may no longer be good enough to compete against the top heavyweights, so view super-heavyweight as a better option..... no longer having to make weight (240/250 whatever)..... guys like Dimitrenko, and maybe Joshua in 4-5 years
4) guys who see super-heavyweight as an easier path than heavyweight..... because they have an advantage in a certain area..... speed especially, but also power stamina chin whatever..... and because the competition is overall not likely to be as technically demanding (like say, Fury in 4-5 years, with his advantage in mobility/skills)
5) some of those HUGE NFL/NBA/rugby guys, that did not made the grade
it would evolve over time..... and could possibly become an entertaining blend of characters/styles
the only difference would be that heavyweights could no longer be outweighed by 100lbs..... like Haye/Valuev..... and say, Usyk/Miller
not sure really, you could be right, maybe we should leave it..... just a thought is allLast edited by aboutfkntime; 06-18-2019, 10:32 PM.Comment

At 240 you would have fighters weighing 250 + on fight night, fighting guys who could not quite make 190.
No matter where you put the limit though, there is still nothing to keep freaks like Wilder and Usyk from challenging for the open class title.Comment

but a 50lb weight difference is better than a 100lb weight difference
and true, there would be nothing stopping the heavies moving upComment
