Wow, interesting how that report triggered so many dudes in here, in some fashion or another.Seems to me he was talking a bit of trash, but intelligibly and with some passion. Heck, he almost got me to change my PICK from MID to EARLY, for the Fury KO.
Like I said, he talks some trash but he does make some sound arguments as well. If Fury wants to fight guys out of the Top 15, that's fine with me. I just don't understand how he comes up with all this "bum rhetoric" toward the other top HW's.
Funny, ya never hear these guys explain why they are fighting an unknown, whilst they are maligning and backbiting their rivals. Highly reminiscent of GGG the other day. Must be something in the Kool-Aid they're sippin'.
Say what you will, but at least Whyte waited until he had a decent opponent lined up.
It's difficult to accept how any titlist, former titlist, or title contender lines up guys outside the Top 15, let alone dogs other guys about it when they are doing the exact same thing. I personally never call anybody a "bum", but I'm sayin' for these guys... I guess that's just the mud-slinging game and some people like playing in the dirt.
Whyte sounded hungry though, in that report. I have a feeling we won't see him taking on anyone out of the Top 10 for the foreseeable future. That could change though if he gets one of those shiny belts. We'll have to wait and see.Last edited by CauliflowerEars; 06-15-2019, 01:34 AM.

Okay.... So let's just pretend we all believe Whyte in everything he says. In the last few months, he has claimed:
-Joshua priced him out of negotiations for a huge money rematch to fight an unproven HW in the US.
-Ortiz turned him down.
-The WBC mandated Wilder fight Domonic Breazeale instead of him.
-Fury won't even mention his name.
-Wilder, Joshua, Fury, and now even Ruiz are all tied up for the foreseeable future. Wilder/Ortiz/Fury are doing what equates to a round robin. Ruiz says he wants whomever has the last belt after the dust settles between those three if he beats Joshua in a rematch (I bet he takes a fight to earn some coin in between if he wins, and who could blame him). If Joshua wins the rematch, does anyone really think he risks the huge unification money after what happened last time? I don't.
Whyte is very much the odd man out of this scenario. I get he HAS to sell himself. It may be like a year and a half in a worse case before he gets any real shot to get a belt. He has to worry if Adam Kownacki or Oleksandr Usyk passes him in opportunities. Crap, Mairis Briedis, Daniel Dubois or Joe Joyce could bump him. I do not believe everything I typed, but Whyte believes it. Expect all kinds of headlines from him in the coming months. The guy obviously needs the publicity in his mind.

Did not like him much when I joined Boxing Scene. Have done a 180 on him since.

I like most of the top 20 HWs so I try to be unbiased in my opinions. I feel Whyte has earned a shot at a title. He has beaten a bunch of fringe HWs including the former WBO champion. He is the WBC & WBO #1 through beating credible competition. I don’t think every HW is a bum like many of the posters think here. I don’t think Parker, Chisora & Helenius are bums. Those are good wins. From what I see Whyte is a good draw in the UK. I don’t know what happened with the Joshua rematch but I think he should be in line for a title fight.

Not Whyte's fan but his comments about Gypsy Klown are spot on. He only forgot to mention Klown's fake promise about donating his last purse to charity for the homeless. That was really disgusting.

Not a fan of Whyte but I would like to get my hands on the audio of some of his interviews to use as samples...some well delivered comedy gold in here. Love the reference to dengue fever, haven't heard that used since the '90s. Would like to see these two get it on, the press conferences would be hilarious

Well, Whyte is right. Fury should fight better competition, because he is not coming from a KO loss or something, so he doesn`t need a tune up like this.
