he is, but he also isnt. A promoter has NO fiduciary duty to the fighter, so the bottom line is that every dollar he pays the fighter is one less dollar in his pocket. The promoters objective is to pay the fighter the least amount of money that he will accept the fight for. Its no different than trying to get a lower price from your auto mechanic, or the A/C guy, home builder, or anyone else that you contract services from. Your objective is to pay as little as possible, and their objective is to charge you as much as possible.

In the end, there are sheep, and there are shepherds. The boxing business is a nasty business, and definitely not for the uneducated. I dont defend the kinds of things Don did, but I certainly understand them.

Idk man. I think there are used car salesmen & there are piece of sh^t used car salesmen. There is a business to it that I & most people get & can respect. There is also shady bs to it that shouldn't be accepted, allowed or seen as just a part of the business I'd argue.

I look forward to the day when promoters are granted less power by fighters & managers. And I don't see how its not coming with more fighters trying to make their own moves without promoters & the big names who for some reason stick with promoters keeping afloat many of them today. It wasn't always like it is today & it won't be like it is today one day in the future.
