Why didn’t Wilder fight any top heavyweight until his 40th fight?

If he were a Brit, he would’ve been pelted with tomatoes years ago and be on the same level as Anthony Yarde. Even Fury never got any love until he travelled to Germany and shocked the world when no one gave him a chance.
The problem isn't really when he stepped up,its accusing others of dodging, ducking and avoiding which makes him a hypocrite .

Anyone whos been watching boxing long enough knows you go at the pace of the fighters learning curve, in wilders case it just wasn't his curve it was fear ,fear bc his team was on panic mode after he was saved by the bell in his 13th fight.( ppl WISH to brush it under the rug ) .

Wilder is in his prime now and looking good at least whats giving to him even though he took an L to fury.

wilders problem like his dumb fan base is he wishes to claim ppl ducked him ( klitschko /AJ ) while taking credit for others wins ( Ruiz ) .

Anyone counting on him defeating AJ still is in for a real shock bc you then don't really know your boxing. lol

Personally i just think him and Finkel were waiting for the Klitchko brothers to bugger off before they made their move on the big stage.
This is the reason why it was a slow coach across China approach to the top of the division. Both Klitschko's had the division on lock down and skinny, chinny Wilder could have been flattened before his career could spread his wings.

Even when he won the title Finkel still talked about Wilder being a work in progress as his challengers reflected this. Wilder is 33 he doesn't have many more peak years before he could fall apart.

But he started boxing late and had few am fights. It was smart to bring him up slowly since he was learning on the go.

                  They're called tournaments:

                  http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Deontay_Wilder

He fought 16x in 2007, 9 in 2008, the rest of his record is incomplete. He also fought in the 81-91kg weight class as an amateur. Almost no fighter goes straight into amateur bouts, guys train months if not years before fighting.

Martin has never been anywhere near top 5 let alone top 10, he won his title because his opponent's knee gave out lmao. Stiverne was top 5, hit Arreola 10x as hard as Vitali did & has the same record ss Ruiz.
