  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Says Joshua Was Scrambled After 3rd, Glad Ref Stopped It

Eddie Hearn, promoter for British superstar Anthony Joshua, explains that his fighter was completely scrambled after the third round of last Saturday's fight with Andy Ruiz at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Joshua, who had just dropped Ruiz in third, was then rocked and dropped hard, twice, in the same round.

Didn't he come INTO the fight "scrambled?" Not sure what to believe.

I don’t believe Hearn usually, but I agree with him here. Joshua may have had a little stage fright, but everything seemed fine until he got rocked in the third. His body language from then in was much different.

This is such a strange comment. He was absolutely fine before he got rocked in the 3rd. He even dropped Ruiz with a rapid combo.

he was out on his feet after the 3rd. mister jab didnt jab very much the whole fight. that was the difference. once Ruiz fired the gun it was all over. just took 4 more rounds.

Fury has the power to hurt Joshua, I used to think fury would just outbox him but now I think fury stops him. And in terms of wilder, that’s actually a dangerous fight for Joshua....he runs the very real chance of getting seriously hurt in that fight

I'll have to see how AJ does in the rematch against Ruiz before I make my final judgement. He could have had a off night. But the way AJ looked against Ruiz he don't need to be thinking about Wilder I don't think he's ready for that especially if he got dropped 4 times by Ruiz. It may take Wilder one shot and it's a wrap. And I just think AJ is too flat footed to deal with Fury's movement.

That hook in the 3rd round is going to haunt AJ for the rest of his career

Christ, we act like we haven't see any of these sequences before. First time fighting in the US and at an iconic hall, overlooking an opponent, getting over agressive looking for the kill and getting caught, fighters out on their feet.

Ruiz is a very good fighter that people (including Joshua most likely) underestimated. AJ has shown he can be dropped and hurt before despite all of his talents.

In today's day and age, everything is a hot take and over analyzed. People use whatever morsel of truth to push their own narrative when we know that life and reality are always alot more nuanced.
