True, but you're forgetting that most of that was of his own design.

Chin over his front knee, lead arm down by his thigh, unsure of himself with no pop on his jab and no variation on his combinations, Ruiz just had to keep his hands up, be patient, smart and then explode when Joshua threw desperate bombs and was off balance.
Credit to Ruiz for his performance - to do what he did was not easy by any means, boxing happens in seconds and fractions of seconds, so he punished A.J for what many other HW's around probably wouldn't be able to execute.

If AJ had tightened up his guard, feinted and ripped hard blows to the body along with the only good thing he showed for a time on the night - footwork, then I think it would have gone to the cards.

(IF YOU WEREN'T IN THE DRESSING ROOM YOU PREFIX YOUR CLAIMS WITH 'Possibly, perhaps, maybe, allegedly...')

Ruiz Jr has been an overlooked (I include myself) HW except for a brief but counter-intuitive display against then-unbeaten WBO hopeful Joseph Parker.

NONE of the former remaining triumvirate are exempt from 'off-nights', and overlooking an opponent who just turns out to look like a cheeseburger inhaling couch potato, and who happens to contain more speed, power and boxing IQ than anyone except himself and his team knew.

All of the greats suffered shock defeats. Lennox Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Frazier, Foreman, Ali, SRR SRL, Roy Jones Jr and on and on and on.

A.J, IMO, at 29, has yet to settle into a style he can carry into every fight. He still has six years and still deserves a top 3 spot for travelling to take on a giant 300 pound, 100 a round punching machine, then had to suddenly switch in a sport where focus and routine are massively important.
AJ aint no spring chicken man he's pushing 30 and been rocked in just about every big fight he's had it doesn't even look like he has 6 years left

If he loses to Ruiz again he's pretty much done at the top level

What do you mean if? Did you see the first fight? Joshua is going to get destroyed in the rematch.

I'm just glad Hearn got his big mouth shut. Always talking chit about Wilder and couldn't even get pass Ruiz.

Kinda reminds me of Khan when he was always talking about a Floyd fight or how Floyd scared but constantly getting KTFO himself. FOH

He can win if he uses the right game plan. Won't be pretty or pleasing tho.

He also can use his ahem, Ariza like shakes, nasal spray or whatever TF he uses in the UK

If he roids, that's the only way I can see this fight being much different lol.. If he takes substances that enhance his chin, his energy and his power, then he has a shot.

Joshua has never been able to fight backwards in his entire career, he's only effective moving forward, and ruiz is not going to allow him to control the fight. Joshua is not going to magically just become a master boxer over a couple months. It's over. This rematch is unnecessary.

Lol only a Wilder super fan would put Ortiz at no.2. And AJ and Whyte at the end. Too obvious

Wilder must really be the greatest fighter ever to be daring to fight the no. 2 fighter again! Reminds me of the Ali/Frazier era....

I give Ruiz and his team full credit for their game plan. If you listened to the corners between rounds you see one corner was prepared and the other was caught off guard.

However, like you said, Ruiz was able to execute the plan and that's why he won in such a dramatic fashion.

Most other HWs would've imploded after getting dropped hard like Ruiz was dropped.
