Comments Thread For: David Price: Massive Risk For Joshua To Face Ruiz in Fall Rematch

Olympic bronze medal winner David Price has full knowledge of the danger involved in going forward with an immediate rematch. Once viewed as a future superstar in the heavyweight division, Price's rise was halted when he was knocked out by veteran Tony Thompson. So Price was influenced by his handlers to take an immediate rematch, and was stopped once again only five months later.

Funny how all these idiots that have always hated Josh are the ones advising him again taking the rematch.

Khan, Arum, Fury, Wilder, LDBC and Pricey. I think that’s more reason why he should take the rematch.

When Price first got hurt to Thompson in his first fight, you could feel his self-confidence and belief evaporate. Second fight he was a bundle of nerves and self-doubt, and entered the fight semmingly terrified of getting that punch that hurt him again to the extent that he just melted away in the fight. If Price is reflecting on his own decisions, then he's right, he clearly needed more time to rebuild mentally as he went into the second Thompson fight having lost before it started.

He's extrapolating that experience from himself to Joshua, but that's only valid if Joshua carries the same level of self-doubt that Price did after the first Thompson fight. He might have a point, Joshua might be overly cautious of getting hit again in the rematch and it could strangle his own output - but Joshua isn't Price...or is he....oh well, we find out in Nov/Dec.

He should take the rematch. I had such a good laugh the first fight. Can't wait to see Ruiz crush in again in front of the brits!

Of course he should take the rematch. Its a no brainer. Not taking the rematch would be the dumbest decision he could make at this point. I respect Joshua for wanting to run it back right away. That's what real champions do.

They want to see him fade off into obscurity

Joshua has took a tonking no doubt but he wants to get back in there and rectify it

These daftys will never get to that level so it’s easy to criticise

If only Matchroom had picked Pricey over Molina before the Wlad fight, AJ's chin would have been shattered long before this and we would have gotten the Klitschko/Price mega fight the world always deserved

Yes, they want to see him start lining up from the back to get another shot.

Even if he were to lose in the rematch, he’d bow out gracefully whilst making ****load of money. So the risk is worth it since a lot of bizarre things happened in the first fight. But if he leaves it, it’s going to take him a long time to get back to where he’s now. He might as well just take the gamble.

I’ve watched the bout again like 7 times and despite not being himself and fighting like an amateur throwing hooks everywhere, without the hard slap to the temple, he would’ve beaten Ruiz. Ruiz’s punches don’t carry that much power and it’s just a flurry of big slaps.

He looked cooked walking in . Maybe nerves I don’t know but he took like 20+ shots to the top of the head after that

I’ve had a few slaps over the years and the top of the head / temple makes your legs betray you

He needs to come back with a **** . The Povetkin fight was the same he takes a good while to adjust to short fighters . Once he started timing Povetkin he cleared him out

I think he thought Ruiz was done and got wild and clipped . It happens

Find it funny people righting the guy off
