If he indeed say this, he was probably advised by someone to follow this script. Anthony Joshua needs this fight more than he does, he has leverage and can extract more $$.

If Al Haymon really wanted to gain ultimate leverage, he would have Andy deny the rematch, subsidize the large fine, and match up Andy with the winner of Wilder/Ortiz. He seems dead set on freezing out DAZN, this would be the ultimate

Turns out there will be a rematch in Nov/Dec. And AJ is psychologically doing the right thing by doing it in NYC. All he has to do is fight long and tall. ''Fast hands'' can't do any damage from the outside.

Rematch clause in US are only good for 12 months then they expire.

Ruiz can wait it out or he can rematch or buy out the contract.

        Happens all the time.

The sanctioning bodies to not have a role in private contracts between boxers and promoters. The fight is made and then they sanction it. That's why we have purse bids and ****.

If Andy breaks the contract he'll have to pay a fine. That's it. If Al sees money in it he may pay off the Aj contract and even the Wilder fights and make the Wilder vs Ruiz fight.

Then again, y'all, he could just retire.
If Ruiz didn't honour the rematch clause, absent specified damages, he would be liable to the financial loss of Joshua which basically bankrupts him. So he is taking the rematch.

Other than someone retiring, or Fury’s mental breakdown when has it happened?

I get the feeling they just dont want Joshua to try to get his belts back. Bitter strange people. They so convinced Ruiz does the same again i thought they would love to see it again.
