Look, I get it. And I'm even happy Ruiz won. It tells a story that anything is possible and looks are deceiving. But.....Ruiz is NOT MEXICAN!!!! Stop that sh@t! Is he of Mexican descent? Sure. Does he probably still go to Mexico to visit family, etc? Sure. Does he eat Mexican food regularly? Definitely.
But those things don't make you a Mexican. When you are born and raised and campaigned your amateur career as a US American........

I guess his parents are Mexican, but born in the US (some say he was born in Mexico though) he has US citizenship, and as he represented Mexico in the Olympic trials, probably dual citizenship.

He does not speak Spanish very well though they say, but that is not essential, he could still identify himself as a lation/Mexican.

If his family is from Mexico and he has dual citizenship, sure he can call himself Mexican? And in boxing terms, he fought like a Mexican. That does it for me at least.
