It's a shame people not giving Ruiz his props. He's a skilled technician with a solid chin and imcredible hand speed and throws in combinations. I didn't think he had alot of power but speed can make up for that. His conditioning seemed excellent and his body punching really debilitated AJ. The shortcomings are that he's not super agile on his feet and has limited range and height for the HW division.

Wilder will blast anyone out if he catches them clean. I would favor Wilder in the fight by stoppage but if Wilder throws, misses and puts himself in a position to be countered then Ruiz has the ability to land quick, crisp combinations on Wilder.

Big Baby wouldn't have had the power or skill to have that style of success on AJ. I thought Michael Hunter would have been a dangerous fight for AJ but I didn't give Ruiz his proper respect going into this one. He's a skilled fighter and his one loss was a very close, disputed decision in his opponent's home town.

Look, I get it. And I'm even happy Ruiz won. It tells a story that anything is possible and looks are deceiving. But.....Ruiz is NOT MEXICAN!!!! Stop that sh@t! Is he of Mexican descent? Sure. Does he probably still go to Mexico to visit family, etc? Sure. Does he eat Mexican food regularly? Definitely.
But those things don't make you a Mexican. When you are born and raised and campaigned your amateur career as a US American........
you won a fkn belt for the USA!
End of story. If not, then take all your new money, hop back south of that border where you lose that security and do something positive down there. Otherwise, stay and be a proud US American & hold that sh@t down man.

Yeah, this is the real mexican style

        Learn about it, GGG...
Most Mexican fighters are head first brawlers....Ruiz is a slick counter puncher. Far from the traditional Mexican style. Even an idiot like you should know that but I'll leave it up to you and your lot to claim it. That's cool.

He made history and he'll get a nice payday in his first and only defense.Unless brother Al has something else in mind, being that he has the two champs.
Why so long? If Wilder wanted he'd KO him in the first. And forget about Fury who would box him into purgatory. No contests in either of those fights. That said, Ruiz is a good technician and makes great use of short arms with positioning and counter punching. Styles make fights and AJ wasn't prepared for the fast counters. Shouldn't have believed the no-hoper stuff. Anything can happen with the big boys.

              Poor i.d.i.o.t.

Give 15 examples of mexican champions with that kind of style.

Even an idio.t like you should understand that I know much more the mexican history than you.

              Just see, kid.

We have like 11 champions of the world right now and all they are boxer with good fundamental skills

Estrada, García and Canelo are the best of them and they are great boxers

And it's a fact that Andy was formed as boxer in México

He represented México in amateur tournaments

He was born in the US, so American citizen by default but then moved to mexico at some point, apparently pretty young because he tried to fight on the mexican olympic team. And it seems he lives in Mexico now.

Does he have dual citizenship? Did he renounce his American citizenship?

I would bet most likely dual citizenship because who would give that up but I cant find anything.

Some sites list him as Mexican and some sites list him as American, adding to the confusion. He wasnt very famous before yesterday so not a lot of information. Im sure his bio's will be getting updated with more info though now that he beat AJ's ass.

His english is perfect too, hes got less accent than most mexican-americans in california.
I bet when he travels overseas he uses that American passport.

Seems like America made him, not Mexico.

Seems like race is more important than nationality in the USA...
                    Not surprising
Mexican, nor Latino, nor Hispanic and even American is not a race Jesus y’all need to go back to school. Who says anything about race.

Poor idi.iot hahahaha full of sh.it.

First of all, you are a complete nobody to said who is mexican, african, brazilian, or whatever, and who is not.

Andy has the mexican nationality and he is a citizenship too.

Andy represented Mexico in amateur tournaments and was near to be a mexican olympian.

He was national champion in amateur like Canelo, Estrada, Valdez, Berchelt, Cuadras, Ramírez, etc.

And most important, Andy Ruiz said that he is mexican and he represented this in this fight, in all his pro career and amateur career.

His blood is 100% mexican and his parents too.

Most important thing is what you represent to the people, to the fans, the whole world.

And Andy represented México, like the same Joshua said:

"Congratulations to Andy to become the first mexican champion in heavyweight"

So, you can cry like the bi.tch you are all the time in internet but the reallity is that all the world knows that Andy is mexican.
