I think this will do similar numbers to Crawford/Khan less then 200K. When Crawford/Khan was first announced most weren't upset if Crawford couldn't get any of the top welterweights from PBC to fight him at least Khan seemed to be a entertaining fight on paper until Khan is knocked out. But once it was announced as PPV the perception changed. If Crawford/Khan was on ESPN fans could live with it but when you charging 70 bucks it became a bad fight on PPV. Same here in a bubble Ortiz is a legit top 10 Heavyweight and the first fight was entertaining. But the first fight was NOT PPV and had a decisive winner by knockout. Ortiz is now older, 40 years old, and not looked great in his fights since being knocked out. His chances of winning are worse then they were last time.

The only time Wilder was on PPV it only did 300K buys and that was a fight that the majority of fans didn't think he won. Instead of getting that rematch which was actually controversial and deserves a rematch or getting the Joshua we are getting stuck with this pointless rematch nobody asked for and they are demanding we now pay PPV 80 bucks for it when you didn't have to pay for the first fight? That's a hard sell.

Think it does more than Crawford vs Khan for sure.

But looking at Coppinger's tweet from yesterday, he also said SHO PPV. So it is Fat Dan against the world!!! We shall see who is right.

Ortiz was knocked out in their first fight. and since then, hasnt looked good and is clearly going to be declined compared to their first fight.

who the **** would be interested in this? paying PPV especially

Ive been saying the same thing. Too much drowns out buyers

I will be shocked if this fight does huge numbers.
I said 320k, but after thinking it over, i'm thinking more 225 at the most.

The other issue is the timing they are saying this will be in Sept. Canelo is fighting on Sept 14. That will be a big fight will take up a lot of the talking air space. If you go before Canelo you get drowned out. If you go after you have a short window to really promote. And if Joshua wins this weekend he will likely be fighting end of Sept early Oct as well. And Canelo and Joshua will be fights you DON'T pay PPV for on DAZN. Especially if Canelo fights someone like say GGG. You will have Canelo/GGG 3 without paying PPV then turn around and tell those same fans pay 80 bucks PPV for a worst fight? yikes

A lot of the PPV audience (ala older generation) is not the same as the streaming audience. They will be fine going late September even if Canelo/GGG is two weeks earlier. If anything, what gets impacted is possibly the gate sales.

Good point. The other thing is we don't know if US audiences are even going to support an AJ fight. we will know more next week. If he doesn't generate any new sales then he will need a much better opponent the next time out.

Are US fans going to pay for DAZN fights for AJ v bums??

If you pay for DAZN to see Canelo in sept then Joshua fight is free you aren't paying again. My point is Canelo + Joshua and whatever other fights they have from sept 14-Oct 14 for 19.99 for just that month or 8 bucks a month if you on a yearly subscription. Fans will see that price and you will continue seeing DAZN commercials in the month of sept on the lead up to Wilder vs 40 Year old already Knocked out Ortiz

Putting the rematch on PPV period is a tough sell but when you add in all the other PPVs PBC is doing and a big Sept Canelo fight for a fraction of the money that will impact Wilders PPVs.
