Well they had him turn down a 40 mil purse for 1 fight, with a guaranteed 40 again for the rematch and 20 for ****ing Breazeale. So 50-60 is the magical number now? When Skipper and DAZN offer him 50 for the fight it will probably then be 75 or 80 mil is the going rate. Everybody likes to talk about Wilder continues to increase his price by waiting this out, but it's not going to go up forever and he's risking it all with every fight he takes. Especially a dangerous fight like this against Ortiz which I imagine he'll probably make between 10 and 15 to fight. One big punch landing is all it takes and the enormous paydays go poof.

And that doesn't even completely apply to Wilder, it takes 2 to tango. What happens to his huge cash out if Ruiz smashes Joshua's chin to pieces? Betting on yourself sounds nice and all, but each time you do that you're putting fate in somebody else's hands and at Wilder's age you'd think he'd want to be the one to get it on sooner than later considering time is on AJ's side. When **** marinates like this in boxing it rarely ever goes as hoped, have a feeling one of them will lose before they meet.

He beat Hughie Fury ... who plays patty-cake. He beat Sam Peter, a roly-poly who was fighting for like the third time in 5 years and was well past it.

The usual collections of Dominque Guinns and Kevin Johnsons and Alexander Dimitrenko types who go rounds but never win.

Beat Tony Thompson when that still meant a little something, but the Tiger was well past his sell-by date (but still a decent little win) and got a split verdict over Derrick Chisora, who basically competes but never wins against good fighters.

So he’s done well with the B- and C-level types.

I don’t see anything about Pulev that says ‘he’s ready to beat top guys.’

Ortiz is more skilled, more explosive and has beaten at least as many good fighters as Pulev and done so more convincingly.

Then we get Joshua vs a guy who has proven himself as being better than Wilder. I just hope they realize they need to line up good fights for Joshua to keep him relevant.

How much can they really do though? If Wilder and Fury won't fight, how many options are out there to "keep him relevant." Especially when mandatories will HAVE to be dealt with. Whyte 2 would be a HUGE fight in the UK, but it still probably doesn't register much in the US. Usyk is really the only other fight out there that means something and that would only be to hardcore fans anyways and it also depends on how Usyk looks at HW.

Bad matchups for AJ are coming, there's really no way around it if he can't get the unification fight. So, if it's unavoidable I think the key becomes exciting performances. If you have to fight guys like Charr and Pulev you need to KO them in brutal fashion to keep the casuals aroused.

They'd tried to make Oquendo fight late last year and he basically said he's too damn old and didn't want it any more. Think we've finally seen the last of Fres. AFAIK, winner of Bryan/Charr will become IMMEDIATE mandatory for AJ, so that will probably have to be dealt with late 2019 or early 2020. I also would think Usyk probably wants 2 HW fights before going after AJ, so that would be a potential mid 2020 fight if they still can't get Wilder or Fury.

Probably looking at Wilder/Ortiz and AJ/Pulev around the same time and then Wilder/Kownacki and AJ/Charr or Bryan early 2020, AJ would then have the WBO mando coming soon, which should be Usyk in this scenario and Wilder may have to deal with his mandatory, which theoretically could be Fury or Whyte.

I def dont disagree with you to some degree on some of your points....

but i think there were some holes about the DAZN deal that werent all tha clear......what i do see though is wilder going from clear b-side to getting a big piece in a years time....

wilder clearly isnt afraid of AJ....so hes not concerned about his age....wilder hasnt taken punishment and hes not one of those HW who has weight issues...wilder is still spry and has plenty of pop...those things arent going to go away next year

i dont think wilders price is going to keep going up....but hes making sure hes putting the pressure on AJ...sooner or later they are gonna have to come with a split and do it the right way with US ppv....sooner or later the public is gonna demand the a-side do whats right...the same way they did with canelo in regards to golovkin
