Why do people hate on Tyson Fury when he is the only top Heavyweight to step up?

The current narrative is that you have to believe your favourite fighter's rivals are obviously ducking. No question, that is what is happening. People get sycophantic about this, in a similar way to Justin Bieber or One Direction fangirls. No criticism of your favs is allowed, everyone else is to blame for anything that goes wrong or doesn't happen. Personally I never understood the logic.

    Anyway.

How can anyone in their right mind call The Gypsy King, Tyson Fury, a ducker, or claim that he is scared/won't step up to the plate?

    1. He beat the longest-reigning Heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, in his own backyard, with everything against him.

    2. He had a positive trace PED test, nowhere near the levels of Canelo. His long absence was due to him suffering with depression/mental health issues and recreational drug use.

    3. He beat Deontay Wilder in his own backyard and got robbed of the victory, after 3 years out and no real competitive preparation.

    4. He has called out Anthony Joshua several times but has been met by Eddie Hearn's "gauntlet demands" each occasion. The latest from Hearn being "Fury has to beat Dillian Whyte if he wants to fight AJ doe."

He stepped up and relieved the REAL Heavyweight champion, and an ATG, of all the belts, then had to vacate due to problems with his mental health and in his personal life. He has never been beaten. While out of the ring AJ picked up Fury's belts, fighting a lineup of opposition nowhere near the level of Tyson Fury himself. AJ collected Fury's titles by fighting a bunch of lesser men.

Then Tyson eventually comes back and gets offered a slave contract by Hearn, so goes with Frank Warren who offers him the World. Beats the other "champion" Wilder to make it a full house of World titles for Tyson, only to get robbed of the decision. The reality is, they were never going to let an American Heavyweight lose the title on home soil after the period of time America went without a World champion in the top division.

Now Tyson has signed a deal with Top Rank and ESPN which makes him a ton of money and gives him the financial backing to make some of these fights on his terms where he no longer just has to be the away fighter. Despite the politics in Boxing, Tyson is his own man and is outspoken enough to get the big fights made regardless of what network, or who promotes, etc. Tyson Fury is scared of no man and wants to fight the best. He just won't be handicapped from the start of the process no more, like he has been many times in the past.

So chill with the hate for this man. He is the top dog in the Heavyweight division, he has proven that twice now. He is a road warrior who achieved what other men couldn't and/or wouldn't. He is a proven blood and guts warrior. He already beat Wilder clearly, fair and square. And AJ style-wise is tailor made for Tyson. Anyone that can't accept that; A. he clearly beat Wilder, and B. AJ is tailor made for him, these people are beyond logic and should seek help with their mental health issues.

    “Chill with the hate”

He’s fighting a complete bum. He deserves it. If wilder or Joshua fought this guy they’d get it and even worse

I love Fury, but let’s not act like Schwartz is a credible foe.

Because he doesn't fit the bill of your stereotypical superstar athlete. Also there's nothing pretty or sexy about his style, it's just pure effectiveness.

Anthony Joshua fits the bill, he looks and acts like the type of champion people want to idolize, the problem is fury is a better boxer than him.

Looks, sure maybe. He looks like a bodybuilder/pro wrestler and people think that’s what a boxer should look like for some reason.

He doesn’t talk like a champ though. He talks like an idiot. It’s why Eddie does his talking for him

This is a fair assessment broski, thank you.

And nobody is claiming Tom Schwarz to be an ATG or anything to that effect.

Why can't people understand that Tyson rushed into the Wilder fight before he was 100% (and clearly won), and now is in a position where he can build himself back up to close to 100%? For the record, Schwarz is ranked higher in two of the ABC orgs than Andy Ruiz Jr.

The people who are ragging on Fury for fighting Schwarz are the same people who say "Wilder won by KO", or "AJ is da best doe!" Schwarz is 24-0 (16 KO), at worst a decent European-level operator. Just because someone is unproven at the absolute top does not automatically make them a bum.

Since the announcement of the fight Schwarz mysteriously dropped from being ranked in the top 30 on BoxRec to being ranked #57, and Andy Ruiz just miraculously appeared above him in one of the ABC orgs rankings. Even more miraculous changes may have occurred since then, I haven't checked.

Schwarz is no worse an opponent than: Johann Duhaupas, Eric Molina, Carlos Takam, Gerald Washington, Chris Arreola or Artur Spzilka. Can anyone tell me what these fighters have achieved that makes them a better/more deserving challenger than Tom Schwarz?

Yeah like the OP is saying. There is no difference between shwarz and Lucas Browne or helenius who some seem to consider great wins for dillian whyte and should of earnt him a title shot. Again the same with Washington. People just love to hate and complain and as you say if it's a rival of their favourite fighters, they're ducking! People are simple minded. But yes with regards to Tyson he has already 100% proved that he is not a coward and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. The whole Tyson fury saga has reiterated how fickle and demanding boxing fan's are. It wasn't enough that he came back from absence out of shape and went a competitive 12 rds with the most dangerous puncher around. The fans then demand the immediate rematch or Joshua, yet prior to the wilder fight these same fans would discredit furys ability and lineal status And critique the shape he's in. And now they think anyone cares that they complain about furys level of opposition when he could have don't with a fight or two before get5ing back to world level anyway . Fury is a living legend and when we all go he will be remembered fondly no one has done what he had done in that fashion ever I'm modern boxing. He deserves love and respect from all fans but the boxing community are too tribal, fanboyish and childish.

There's nothing wrong with building yourself back up after such a long time away from the sport... but when you are continually claiming that everybody is a bum and you'll beat them easily you do not get the luxury of facing such no hopers... if you talk like you're a world beater than you have to act like a world beater... and opting against rematching Wilder in favour of facing Tom Schwarz is not acting like a world beater.

Beyond that Tyson Fury is never really going to get all that much support (beyond his hardcore fans) simply because of who he is and what he has routinely said in the press... things that do not paint him in a good light in any way.
