No. I'm saying that counting viewers in territories outside of the US to make a number look better is silly (Note, Wikipedia does show that Showtime Australia/Arabia/Scandanavia are actual channels; how that ties to boxing viewership is unknown to me).

The stated number was 1.2m, but the US number was somewhere between 600k-700k viewers, with the other 7 DAZN territories contributing practically have the viewers.

Canelo went from basically a million US buys for the Chavez Jr and two Golovkin fights, to now drawing 600k-700k for the Jacobs' fight (and who knows how much he drew against Rocky Fielding, lol), and who knows what going forward (note that none of the sporting press outlets really had anything to say about the fight after, compared to the sporting world talking up Wilder-Breazeale).

It'd be one thing if you could differentiate the information; once you could specifically look at the US numbers, why bother with talking about anything beyond that?

Chavez and GGG are much bigger draws than Fielding or Jacobs.

The topic was about DAZN as a platform and the exposure it gives someone. DAZN is about the same as HBO or Showtime right now and the numbers bear that out, and it is in its infancy.

Also - look at how much DAZN is paying their fighters. Way above what other networks are. That should give you some hint as to their viability right now.

I disagree that Alvarez-Jacobs only does 500k; with Canelo's PPV track record, Jacobs being a viable opponent (who can carry the English/urban promotion of the event), and the established media not being against him (don't think that that ESPN freezeout was on accident), the PPV would've performed strongly imo.

DAZN got you for $100 it seems like; sunk cost, but whatever. I think Prograis-Taylor is a great matchup, I think that Alvarez-Andrade is a really good matchup, and I guess 'Monster' Inoue and Joshua-Usyk are cool too.

Outside of that, the well is pretty dry to me; no real competitive matchups to look forward to.

Hopefully you find enough good fight nights to make that $100 worth it to you, lol

Dude - you have to pay extra for HBO/Showtime. It is the same model as what DAZN is lol and you basically pay the same monthly rate. You get more fights with DAZN and more other content with HBO. They are both an 'app' - you can use whatever terminology you want.

Afaik they don't post viewership numbers and I honestly doubt they are as good as HBO or Showtime right now, but I'm sure they are close enough. It is a new service with pretty clearly better upside than HBO or Showtime. Not to mention fighters are getting much paid better on DAZN already compared to any other service.

I agree Canelo cards would help him get exposure - but he just headlined a show and that's pretty impressive. If he headlined anywhere else right now he would probably have similar numbers just because no one really knows who he is and he isn't a star.

Just don't see how his stock would be any better on a different service - if he is going to be a star it will happen because of him not because of the network he is or isn't with.

His stock would be better cause I highly doubt he got even 300k viewers. If he was on sho e would have gotten 400k or more
