    Just wondering.
I don't think so really he was so much a part of the sport on of the biggest non-heavy ticket sellers always fought on tv never ever backed down. He just ran into bad style match ups except he should have beat baldy but gatti could not fight off the back foot. I say yes he had to ok title runs and was one of the most popular fights of the 90's and 00's not to mention he did more than most expectid of him.

Losing with courage or struggling to beat club fighters like Micky Ward does not qualify anyone for the hall!

      Quake,

There were guys on here who were KILLING Zab Judah for losing a close decision to Baldomir. They called him a bum and an ******* (he is).

What does it mean that Gatti was HUMILIATED by Baldomir. And knocked out?

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

      • Everyone who said Gatti should be in the Hall of Fame looks pretty dumb right now

        • No, Gatti is an overglorified prizefighter. Everytime he stepped up in class he's been beat. We can't award the HOF status on just the merits of heart and detirmination.

              • Gatti Hall Of Fame! Yeah right! He was and still is nothing but a club fighting bum! Look past his skin color and see the truth! Putting this bum in with all those great fighters in the hall is a dishonor.

"A real fighter" and "dan sweeney".

Please name the "plenty" of guys who are in the Hall who have inferior careers to Gatti.

Guys who are in the Hall that never beat an elite opponent, never controlled a division, or was never competitive with elite fighters.

                      1) You mention Gatti's popularity as justification for the Hall of Fame. If popularity is a criteria, should we keep Pernell Whitaker and Bernard Hopkins out because they were unpopular?

2)Gatti did not do "more than we expected". He did less. He was a hot prospect at 130/135 because of his chin and power. He kept getting TV dates and title shots because people thought he can off those guys. If, when Gatti was coming up, you asked people would they consider Arturo's career a success if he ended up like Micky Ward, people would tell you "no, that would be a disappointment". Well, here we are.

                      3) Does Fernando vargas belong in the IBHOF? Compare his career to Gatti's.

                      4) Buddy McGirt has a better career than Arturo. And he is not in the Hall as a fighter.

                      True Story.
