It does harm the sport. It portrays the sport as a bloodsport rather than the sweet-science which the more cerebral fans wish to hold it out as - something which modern society can not only tolerate but celebrate.
Do you think major brands are going to want to align themselves with a sport in which it's most significant figures talk about killing people?
No. It's a bad look.Comment

Tyson's comments faced a huge public backlash when he made them and that was 30 years ago - we live in very different times now.

You can even go back to Duran sending Lampkin to the hospital and claiming" Next time I'll kill him."
Boxing is fine and will be regardless of what individual fighters say.Last edited by joseph5620; 05-16-2019, 02:00 PM.Comment

Wilder is actually on the low end of sponsorship with $1.65 million, Fury makes $2.65 million and Joshua make 7 million in endorsements, more than three times Wilder. Wilder has 435 thousand followers on Twitter, Fury 1.1 million and Joshua has 1.3 million followers or just under three times more.
Those are the numbers, read'em and weep.
Then Motherfucker, why is he the most famous boxer in the world today ahead of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin and Manny Pacquiao? He is known by more people in the world than all five of those fighters mentioned. Now Answer me, why is that asshole? According to the recent ESPN poll, Deontay Wilder is the 34th ranked most famous athlete in the world and the most famous boxer in the world. Shit! Before you start hurling accusations at me. Do your fucking research first!

You should actually read the article and the numbers & come back and edit your post. Just sayn, take a little time and read it. I read it, then I verified the numbers and guess what? The numbers don't support your claims, not even close. Nobody knows who F*)K Wilder is.

ESPN has collected enough data through its own research to determine and has come to the conclusion that Wilder is indeed the most recognizable, prominent and renowned fighter in the world today.
Now put that in your pipe and smoke it asshole!Comment

Motherfucker, I didn't make this shit up! Moreover these are not my Goddamned claims; They are ESPN's.
Damn you are mentally and intellectually challenged and dense. If you have a problem with the article, then I suggest you take it up with the writers and research team of ESPN's Sachin Dave Chandan and Charlotte Gibson. They penned the article.
Or better yet do one better and contact the editor in chief of ESPN Magazine Alison Overholt and the CEO of ESPN James Pitaro about your gripe, protest and beef pertaining to this article. Shit!Comment
