Comments Thread For: Jarrett Hurd Wants Julian Williams Rematch To Be 'Immediate'

Jarrett Hurd had a lot of difficulty dealing with Julian Williams on Saturday night. Williams worked well when they fought inside, dropped Hurd with a left hook in the second round and utilized diversity in his game that prohibited Hurd from retaining his IBF, IBO and WBA 154-pound titles. The former champion admitted he didn't do nearly enough to win their 12-round championship match at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, ******ia.

I was rooting for j rock but I thought Hurd would will himself to over power him

Great inside instincts by j rock, he knew how to pivot and move on the inside and it was damn near masterful, Andre ward esque

He proved you can lose, get sent to hell by a knockout and still bounce back

No shame on Hurd, he just need to refine his skills a bit more

I like what j rock said about Haymon getting him out a Gary Shaw contract, “Thank you Al Haymon, he got me out my Gary Shaw contract I don’t want to brag but I got a million dollars in properties because of him” say what u want about Haymon but he seemingly keeps his fighters, even guys who were not as accomplished as j rock, financially secure

And isn’t that more important, it’s one thing to be thrown checks at you a la DAZN to wilder etc, but isn’t it More important to have equity, financial literacy, own IP and properties in your name to build a legacy for you and yours

It’s one thing to take a check it’s another thing to do build something like Nipsey, ownership is key, I guess that’s why Haymon fighters start to have their own promotional companies, ownership

Thurman manny finally announced, that’s cool and all especially since it’s fox, but it’s ppv, I’m gonna assume it’s ppv cause manny wants the extra cash, it is what it is, I’m against ppv especially at $75, but all in all it’s a good matchup and I think manny has a shot

Learn from J Rock, learn on how SOME boxers are urged to invest, and some are on their own to figure out things

To me this is a double edge sword. On one hand an immediate rematch would be a good thing because it would prevent him from weakening his body and ballooning up in weight; In order cut more than 40 pounds just to make the Super welterweight limit.

However at the same time, I believe it's a bad thing because I think his body needs more to time to recover and heal from the bruising he took on Saturday night from the beating he took at the hands of J-Rock Williams.

He shouldn't go into an immediate rematch. You can only change so much in one training camp.

After coming with all those guys blowing trumpets in your home town you make sure you trained well not partying with ugly girls. I do like Hurd but he won't last in boxing becausr he has no defence. You can't have a strategy of out lasting your opponent as if you are a Mexicam stiff. The guy has reach advantage and I don't see why he can't jab, move his feet and head and box.

He knows the belts would be gone of he doesn't do a rematch now. The vultures are circling and Williams would get a big offer fight to relieve him of those belts.
