Why? A couple of very obvious reasons.
1. Because he’s a promoter, which essentially means he’s a PR man. He’s demonstrating to the public (a good percentage of whom think that Joshua was avoiding the fight) that he is doing everything to make the fight and that it is Wilder’s side who are making things difficult. Seems like a perfectly sound policy to me. But more importantly...
2. Why should he simply give up? That fight is apparently Joshua’s main aim right now so Hearn should do everything possible to make the fight happen from his side (even if it’s very likely that Wilder will just reject it; just as he rejected $120m)
This is sport and a lot can change in a short space of time
You were suggesting that Hearn simply has to offer 50/50 and the fight will be made. That was the Wilder narrative for a while but Wilder has refuted it himself now so you are wrong on account of being out of date.
And don’t you find it a just a little bit strange that ever since Hearn came out in various interviews and said that Wilder might actually get 50/50 if Joshua gets impatient enough Wilder’s position has suddenly shifted to “we’ve got big important plans to rematc Ortiz and fight Kownacki which can’t be frustrated by some meagre historic undisputed fight, even for 50/50”
you don’t find that su****ious at all?... I’ll waitComment

You can say that again.Wilder wants to fight AJ and AJ wants to fight Wilder.. If only we could get rid of these snakes in the middle.. America and the United Kingdom could be friends again and watch great fights. But no.. we are both victims to the serpents tongue.. not realizing this is why we fans are fighting each other instead.. smhComment

The only reason Hearn keeps bringing up wilder's name is because the interest just isn't there in US for Joshua fight. He should have fought Ortiz and maybe it would have a little buzz. But they made the bed so lay in it.Comment

Even the worst offer that Wilder has ever received can't be construed as a 'lowball offer'. The man is a heavyweight champion of the world and is making peanuts.
Even a $15m offer is roughly what, 5 x more than he's ever made?!
Absolute madness, multiple times more money than you've ever made before, the chance to win all the belts, sponsorships, exposure to millions of more casual fans who may follow you going forward and due to the fact it would be massive event there would be a rematch generating more money....
That $50m dollar off to AJ was never a formal contract so that argument can be tossed aside.
Wilder has had multiple offers (need not mention $120m offer) and never agreed by signing his name, instead coming up with excuses or blaming Hearn/Joshua
Wilder/his team are avoiding this fight. Period.Comment

"It's the only fight to make next for both guys, but everything we're hearing out of their camp is not really giving us much encouragement that this is the fight that is going to happen."
Why would you even bring up making the fight in November or December if you're not getting any encouragement from Wilder's team? It's been the same thing from both sides for years now 'We want the fight but they won't cooperate or the offer was fake or there was no real contract'. It's getting old fast.Comment
