All these signs of Haymon or PBC lying to their boxers is shameful. Boxing needs to move on from PBC so badly. It reminds me of when Haymon told Santa Cruz that "none of the fans would be happy to see" Santa Cruz vs Rigo as a way to justify not making the fight, or convince Santa Cruz. https://www.boxingscene.com/santa-cr...ux-bout--87367.

In reality, that's the fight fans wanted to see most at 122 at that point! Just a blatant lie to manipulate the fighter into agreeing with what was best for Al Haymon's company, I guess, rather than what was best for the fighters or the sport or the fans. And it seems like this might just be Al's way of doing business. He's a Harvard grad, most boxers are uneducated, so he probably finds it very easy to manipulate them. And the few times one of them is smart enough to see through it, he would still be protected from being exposed because of the music industry type of contracts it's rumored he makes his boxers sign that allegedly prevent them from saying anything negative about him publicly even if it's true.

Boxing will never thrive as a sport again until stuff like this changes, and boxers wise up.

$150,000 for a bs opponent training camp seems high. Thats like 20k-25k a week. Wtf is all that money going for?

Most mfers don't get that much to fight let alone train lol. Granted Marcos ain't most mfers.

Leasing an apartment, paying coaches, paying sparring partners. Chino was fat af and needed an extremely long camp. This chit adds up real quick.

Sounds like Maidana's being a bit prideful here. Silly to do all the work for nothing.

PBC has every right to be cautious cuz Maidana wasn’t even in the toughest phase of his work outs and he looked like he wanted to bolt eventually in those work outs he was doing with Ariza!

He’s a man motivated by only money and not the challenge, he simply doesn’t have the fire anymore and this was the perfect excuse to get outta dodge!

Plus trying to make 147 this year was very extreme even with the best team of nutritionist and dieticians!

I hope for the best for him and knew it wouldn’t work out’

Either he was gonna quit before he got to the finish line or was gonna take a beating in one of his comeback fights!

Glad he has his health intact, time he starts being a full time promoter cuz with his name he could do well eventually!

He says he got $30K and then another amount that he's not sure of. Let's say $40K, and he doesn't even have another fight finalized yet. $150K is a bit much when you can just take the money and run back home, and that's what he did.

And from what I read it wasn't Haymon that Maidana was dealing with. He was dealing with Tom Brown of TGB.

20k to 25k a week doe? A nice apartment is gonna be 2k-3k a month. To have a lil bs place for sparring partners might be 600 a month. A s & c coach might be 500 to a grad a week. Sparring partner probably maxing out for equal or less than that. The most expensive people on the team making money off the purse. Wtf kinda vitamins he need?

Seems like a lot of f#cking money for a training camp for a low level opponent. This feels like its the cost for a high level championship fight.

If someone agreed to give him 150k for camp fair play to Marcos for leaving, but that sounds waaaaaay excessive to me in particular for a bs fight.

Randomly does anyone know if there is a promoter behind this or if this is Haymon like a bunch seem to wanna believe before any names have been mentioned?

$150K to get in shape? Really?

Maidana has been a professional for a long time and knows what it takes to get in shape. He doesn't need $150K to get in shape verbal agreement or not. At this point looking at his weight he needs a lot of road work and dieting/meal plan. If I was PBC I wouldn't give him that much either. $20-30K was generous if you ask me.

Lol he was trying to steal and got caught. How do you not know the other amount you were given? I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lawsuit coming for him.
