Ruiz may not have the sheer size and durability of Miller, but he's a far better boxer and has very quick hands for a HW. If his fight with Parker was anywhere but New Zealand, he might have already been a world champ anyway. Not saying he was robbed, but it was a close fight and those decisions generally go to the man on home turf.

Three, Not only that, there is only 4 weeks to prepare for while AJ has been training already. Four, A fighter should NEVER low ball himself. He started high (10 million), but i bet they will met somewhere in the middle. Hearn has the money the way Skipper has been throwing it around. Five, Hearn was is either going to select Ruiz or Hunter. Ortiz was never a consideration imo because he is more skilled than Hunter and Ruiz.
But Hearn knows he can't pick a lamb for the slaughter or this fight will not be taken seriously. The last offer i heard from Hearn was 7 million.
Ortiz could be fighting for 3 HW world titles on June 1st and a for figure which is AT LEAST ten times his highest payday if he had just accepted the offer.
Instead he gets nothing because he and his team got unreasonably greedy. Then they lied about the offer to save face even tho their figure was still 10x Ortiz’ highest ever.
As for your point about Hearn never wanting Ortiz, the first name out of Joshua and Hearn’s mouth for the fight was Ortiz. We all saw it. Ortiz was the front runner. If AJ/Hearn were going to duck, as you suggest, then Ortiz and his team could not have made it any easier for them. Team Ortiz should have gained massively from this opportunity. Either
(a) by getting the fight; or
(b) by entering into negotiations with good faith and reasonable expectations and then having AJ and Hearn duck out, the PR victory would have been significant and boosted Ortiz profile tremendously, “the Boogieman” moniker would have seemed well deserved.
Instead they’ve actually somehow managed to lose. Their reputation has been dented (what kind of “Boogieman” ducks?) and apparently their team is now divided. Now it seems most likely they’re gonna have to watch someone else take the fight and wonder “what if” as Ortiz continues to get older and older.
