Did someone say that Golovkin has a great boxing mind?
OMG, if he did he would've beaten Canelo in the second fight.
Remember Sanchez urged GGG to step it up in the end when the corner realized the fight was close.
But GGG decided to box and move.
Boxing iq ggg? Barely none, just basic technics and raw power.
An all-time great? Could be.

GGG literally did beat him in the second fight lol. Outlanded him overall and in 8 out of 11 rounds I believe.

Both fights were similar too - GGG picked it up in the late middle rounds in both and separated himself from Canelo. Pretty good adjustments and boxing skills in both fights from GGG.

I definitely think Abel was a good fit for GGG overall while they were together; every trainer has pros and cons but I think Abel both boxing wise and also style wise outside the ring was a good fit for GGG (with GGG's dad passing away he was probably a type of surrogate father for him like a lot of trainers are for their fighters).

But I disagree that GGG's offer to Abel was ridiculous or a low-ball offer. In real estate for example if you sell a 10 million dollar house, the agents involved take a much reduced commission because they are still making big money with a smaller split. It would be the same way here.

Just on principle I disagree with people feeling entitled to other people's money. I think 500k per fight, or whatever it would have been, is a great deal for any trainer! Especially if you are getting 5-6 fights at that amount.

These boxers risk too much in the ring, and we see these guys who make big money go broke all the time. And the main reason is they let the hangers-on around them fleece them and take way more than they should.

It may be unfair to Abel to call him a hanger-on but that is the type of attitude he is showing imo. If GGG or any other fighter let everyone in their circle take what that person felt they were owed, every fighter would go broke.

Reminds me of what Deion Sanders says that he tells young athletes about their money - he tells them the most important word they can learn is 'no.' If you don't learn that word that $50 million or so he could make will be nothing in just a few years.

I get all of that and I agree in principle but I'm basing everything off of what Abel said, he said it's 1/5th of what he used to make with GGG, whether that's percentage-wise or flat-fee wise is still unknown and with GGG being Abel's only popular fighter, I doubt it that he would be too picky or demanding since he doesn't have anybody else, I think the offer must've been just way too low for him to accept.

I get what GGG is trying to do and financialwise it's the right thing to do, he should dump Sanchez and hire his brother as a trainer and keep it in the family, Sanchez isn't teaching him anything new at that stage and Sanchez is already a millionaire himself so GGG doesn't owe him anything. The way he went about it though, based on what Sanchez is saying, wasn't the right way. GGG's side of the story is much needed though for us to make a more fair assessment.
