Abel was the one who helped Borat get to the point...where he could negotiate higher purses..
And you are cock drunk if you think Abel was only a trainer. Abel was as notorious as Roach in his heyday for talking shit...and that helped raise Borat's status which also got Borat some raises.

yea .. the PRINCIPLE of it.
this is like 2 guys hustling on the block for 10 years then one guy hits the lotto and buys a mansion.. then he offers his boy an efficiency. lil g did not come up on his own. abel was instrumental in his rise and fame. lil g just fcked him with no honor.
he dont deserve a third canelo fight. he needs to beat andrade or charlo.. or fck off.Comment

All the people who are saying that 10% is standard. Does it also apply to the big earners? A couple of posters brought some examples of trainers getting a flat fee or an amount that is less than 10% (without sources though, but dont have the time to fact check at the moment).
1) Roach got 1,5 mio against from De La Hoya against Mayweather. sounds less than 10%.
2) "Roach is getting 10%, but maxes out at 100.000$"
3) The Dundee example from Eff Pandas
So it's not actual clear that trainers are always getting 10% of the purse. Havent heard about mayweather sr. bragging about his 30 mio check from the mayweather pacquiao fight yet.Comment

.
But as I said in another thread too Abel sunk his own battleship by not sticking with Team GGG during his post fight remarks for the 2nd fight. You don't go saying your guy lost a close disputed fight that most fans thought he won. You go through the motions of "we wuz robbed" publicly even if you don't believe it. Abel shoulda been fired imo after that whole thing.
Canelo won a close fight and it was fair, GGG took a lot of punishment and Abel was angry because GGG did not follow his instructionsComment

Once the fighter reaches this level, the trainer isn't doing as much. In part because the fighter has to hire other specialists to help with the other aspects (chef, strength and conditioning etc.). In part because training goes from developing skills, which takes more time, to opponent specific preparation.
A such the trainer gets a flat fee rather than 10%.Comment
