You just don't know a damn thing about boxing
%10 is fairly standard for trainers

Yeah, that's a no buddy.
You actually think Pacquiao, Mayweather, Oscar paid their trainers 10% of their purse once they got to the PPV level??
Bless your heart.Comment

Umm no roach never got 10 percent of it.
Manny’s guarantee for the Algieri fight was $23 million. Would he pay Roach a customary ten percent of that pile? I’m guessing no..it is customary for that percentage to be lowered when the purse numbers get into the astronomical range…Comment

How?
- Suppose GGG is offering Abel 2% and will fufill the 6 fight deal. To make the same money he would make from GGGs offer Abel would need to get a 10% fee from a fighter averaging $3.33 million/fight over 6 fights. How many fighters in the world get that? None in Abel's stable. GGG can definitely get a solid trainer who would accept the deal and save $8 million in the process
- GGG is old and developed. Heck, he was already a solid product before he even met abel. How much can Abel bring to the table for GGG at this point?
- We don't know how GGG valued his training for his fights with Canelo. The way Abel is complaining, it kind of makes me think GGG paid the full 10% for those fights. Good chance when he saw 7 figures go to Abel he thought "well, that wasn't worth it".
- Trainers are providing a service to the fighter. If you can find someone to provide an service of the same quality at a lower cost you take it. GGG believes he can.
You can discuss "industry standards", but this is a brain-dead argument good for pissing away money needlessly.Comment
