Sounds just like what happened to Rocky Marciano after he retired. Rocky got fat on pasta and meatballs, got back in the gym and realized it wasn't happening anymore.

Exactly the same thing happened to Marciano.
      It just wasn't there anymore.
Although Rocky was fed up with the politics of boxing already.

        Good decision Chino!

Would have hated to see Maidana come back and get beaten up by some D level fighter!

But if he doesn’t feel it better to cut all ties right away
I thought he could of made some decent money especially winning his first fight back , and trying to convince the fans he’s still the old Chino etc etc
              I guess we’ll never know
Man, I doubt alex was pushing him any more than he usually pushes fighters. He's known for pushing real hard.

That many years off will make anybody lazy when you that age.

He was hot fighter back in 2014 when he made Mayweather a hell of a fight. he should made 2-3 big fights after that and then retire in 2016 -2017.

Coming back by 36 when you are lazy and 5 years not fighting makes no sense.

allright, spill. it's not a guy who beat tyson or fedor, who's the fighter.

by being in the gym, hopefully he was offered a boxing related gig. he probably was. but it's a good, smart decision for him. hopefully he doesn't need money real bad in 4 years.
