Yeah, an Ortiz fan here that feels the same way. It isn't really about how much they were offered. If it was $500,001 it was his highest offer ever. And I think we can all safely assume it was in the low millions, so that is all there is to it.What was his previous highest payday. The $500,000 for the Wilder fight? I can't believe for a second that Hearn didn't offer him a career high to face Joshua.
A career high pay day, a shot at 3 belts, a fight he's 'apparently' been calling out for. And he's walked away.
After all that talk by him and Joshua haters. Time to leave Ortiz's name at the door. He didn't wan't to know when his bluff was called
It is about passing up the chance of a lifetime, one that would open up many more million dollar paydays so long as Ortiz either lost well in an exciting fight or (sweet southern tea, can we imagine it) he actually would have won. But while I think most of us realize Joshua would win this, even losing in the manner he did against Wilder would have increased his earnings over the next couple years of fights he has. An exciting fighter earns fans. Ortiz has proven he is an exciting fighter in the right circumstance. Largest stage yet, largest payday, three belts, and a career defining bout staring him right in the face. And he passes.

It doesn't make sense that Hearn would low-ball Ortiz to such a degree as to insult him, because Hearn is the desperate one.
Carmenate would have been in the driver's seat to negotiate a decent payday for the most recognisable name available.
This has Haymon's vindictiveness all over it, he likes to shaft people just because he can.
A.J came all the way over here, cancelling a date at Wembley to placate the Americans and now their prize stud has pissed dirtier than a rehab reject, all the so-called 'big names' at HW don't want an opportunity to fight on 6 weeks notice for what would surely be at least close to what Miller was promised (plus the chance to grab three major belts)?

Horrible decision by Ortiz's team.
He's a Cuban fighter who is very talented but he:
a) is fighting in the US without much of a fanbase - he is appreciated by hardcore fans but he doesn't bring much to the table
b) is getting very close to retirement. It is very very very hard to believe that in the circumstances he wasn't offered low millions. He's not from NY, he doesn't bring the same $ to the table as Miller, so he should necessarily get the same as Miller, but even half is around $3m which is so much more than he's ever earned and would create a nice nest egg for him and his family.
As for Ortiz's management. How ****** can you be to badmouth Hearn like this? Does this help Ortiz get the financial windfall fight in the future, when time is so short for this guy? I don't think so.

Whatever Ortiz was offered it is more than he will get for his next fight and probably the one after that and of course he will be a year or so older . Something is only worth what you can get for it , no more and no less .. when are these fighters going to detach their selves from this social media over inflated value they get from keyboard warriors that fuel their egos with telling them what they want to hear and no idea about the fight game and it's realities.. come to think of it life's realities..
