April 22, Jacobs looking drained 7lbs north of 160.

they never had a 14-day weighin before...
The WMP specifically aims to protect the health and safety of fighters.
In addition to our already established pre-weigh-ins of 30 and 7 days. The 14 days weigh in is added.
To further ensure the safety of boxers and their rivals, by avoiding overhydration, the World Boxing Council is implementing a weigh in system on the same day of the fight.
In which boxers must not exceed 10% of their weight division.
The fighters must be weighed in the dressing room of the arena where the fight will take place.
10%
It must be done to monitor that the fighter doesn’t exceed 10% of the division limit.Comment

only the ibf has that rule when unification trumps rehydration weighins, wbc is a different story... its a new wbc rule and has nothing to do with unifications... canelos rehydration clause is for 10lbs in the morning, wbc is 10% on fight night..Last edited by icha; 04-22-2019, 05:56 PM.Comment

Of course he is drained. He just barely can make 160 and is bigger than many 168 pound boxers. He skipped the morning weigh in and GGG did not skip it and he ended up weighing an estimated 180 to GGG's 170. Canelo won't let him skip the morning weigh in so he won't be able to gain as much weight between the weigh in and the fight. One reason among others that I think Canelo will win by KO.Comment

Jacobs will be drained, since he usually rehydrates to 180+ over night, now he somehow must stop below 170.
Jacobs had to make the 170 once, and that was in his last fight where he looked terrible and almost lost to Derevyanchenko, who is no killer at all.
Derevyanchenko just almost got knocked out by light punching Culcay who is pretty much garbage.
I see no way that Jacobs wins vs Canelo now while being drained, his biggest advantages are eliminated.Last edited by Jubei; 04-22-2019, 06:30 PM.Comment

have you read the new wbc rules?

Sources: Canelo-Jacobs has a rehydration clause. Second weigh-in at 8 a.m. day of middleweight title fight. Neither guy can weigh more than 170 pounds. Penalty is several-hundred thousand per pound. Jacobs elected not to partake in IBF’s same-day weigh-in for fight with GGG

Its not 10%, its 10lb rehydration limit, special clause requested from Team Canelo for this fight. So the max weight is 170lb, meaning its a huge disadvantage for Jacobs.
