The fact remains, we don't know EXACTLY how good this kid REALLY is until he actually steps up his competition instead of looking good against cans. For all we know he could lose his very next fight before he could fight Loma, but since you guys really want to throw him into the wolves so fast you guys are not doing Lopez any favors at all.

I want Lopez to establish himself as a top tier fighter first, not be a sacrificial lamb.

I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to understand.
you know whats really hard for you to understand? its not "us guys" wanting to throw lopez to the wolves...its lopez himself that wants to get in the ring with the top wolf.....and the funniest part about it? carl morretti from top rank actually says hes one of the most mature 21 year old kids hes seen in the sport

There's really no point in continuing this argument. We can both agree to disagree.

I do hope Teo looks good tomorrow and ends up fighting a quality fighter next, and then maybe face Loma down the road. Hopefully he can get some actual good wins and then a fight with Loma at the end of 2020 the earliest.

end of 2020 is going to be a stretch.....lopez may outgrow division by then....but maybe somehow that doesnt happen...

its just startling how many are going to lengths to excuse the fight from happening....i think many are just hoping lopez goes away.....the p4p champ looks legit scared to mention lopez....he had to outright downplay the possibility of fighting him

But that responsibility is one of the ways in which Lopez is different. Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti compared him to New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley in terms of maturity.

“There is something beyond the ordinary with this kid,” Moretti said of Lopez. “That’s why I mentioned a Barkley type. He is mature well beyond his years. He has great common sense. He is not a guy going around finding trouble. Trouble doesn’t find him.

I'm sure Loma will gladly fight Lopez the moment Lopez gets a belt or at least gets a good win over a solid fighter. It's just that Lopez is really not at the top of the priority list and has nothing to offer as of now. Who knows, if Davis or Garcia do not come through with making a fight with Loma then maybe he might end up giving in to fighting Lopez sooner than you might think, much like when he decided to give Rigo a shot when he knew it wasn't a fight he desired for but fans were clamoring for it.

At the end of 2020 the earliest?

Did you not read the article?

Lopez says the last chance to make the fight is December 2019. Because he can't make 135 lbs much longer.

He wants a shot at greatness before he has to leave the division forever.

I'll refer back to my previous post.

That's Teo's problem to deal with, Loma doesn't need to be pressured in accepting a challenge that has a deadline when he has other things to take care of first. Let Loma actually clear his division first by beating Davis or Mikey, take all the belts, and then challenge Teo if there aren't any more challengers. Teo will have to wait his turn or just jump up in weight already if he can't make the weight anymore. Teo is in no position to force Loma to fight him AT ALL.

                      Davis isn't in Lomachenko's division.

And you know damn well that Lomachenko isn't fighting Davis or Mikey next anyway.
