Almost as many people are picking Vargas to win as picked Hopkins

When Hopkins fought Tarver, almost everybody picked Hopkins to win. Most of the experts geniunely thought Hopkins was the better fighter and would win the fight, but most fans picked against Tarver because they hated him.

Tonight, almost every boxing expert I've heard from and a good portion of boxingscene.com's staff has picked Vargas to win. I think the thinking is that Vargas almost won when he was unable to see from about the 4th round on in the first fight. I don't know if there was a headbutt or not, I'm going to watch the fight again in a few minutes and find out. But as of now, it seems like the majority is going with Vargas. With that said, is it really an upset if he wins? Because Hopkins beating Tarver did not turn out to be an upset as so many people predicted it.

I didn't see a head-butt, but there was alot of contact on the inside, & when your eye looks like that any kind of contact will feel painful.

Hopkins beating Tarver was still an upset, its just that a lot of people thought he could pull off the upset. u know???

Vargas beating Mosley would still be considered an upset, its just that there are a lot of people out there (including me) that think Vargas has the ability to pull off the upset and win

Shane Mosley ALWAYS does better on the rematch. Mosley UD or even KO.

He did a lot better the second time. Some could argue it was a draw or he won.

yeah but people picked Hopkins coz he was obviously more skilled than tarver but people thought about the 2divisions etc

Vernon Forrest. I've never seen the second De la Hoya - Mosely fight, but is that the one where he was beaten pretty clearly but got the decision anyway, or was that the first fight?

I don't think Mosley necessarily does better in rematches. First of all, how could he NOT do better in the rematch with Forrest? He didn't get knocked down the second time so of course he did better, lol. The Wright fights, I actually had Wright winning by a wider margin the 2nd time. The rounds were much more contested, but Wright still took 9-10 of them. I had the first fight 117-111 for Wright and the 2nd fight 118-110 for Wright. And then in the DLH fight, he lost the 2nd time. Few people will really make a case for Mosley winning that one other than the three judges. I had DLH winning it 8 rounds to 4.
