    Why?

Did either of them win 2 Olympic Gold Medals?

    I think she would.

She's the only 2 time Gold Medalist in women's history.

Neither of them beat anybody as well regarded as Christina Hammer, who was undefeated and a champ for 8 1/2 years.

Neither of them won 2 Olympic Gold Medals.

They fought when women's boxing was in it's infancy.

They probably wouldn't beat Hanna Gabriels.

History probably has proved Ali right. That was also 50 years ago. Things change, roll with the change. Beating yourself in the chest screaming I'm the greatest is a bit out there these days, IMO. Btw, in what other profession would that fly. Can you imagine a doctor saying:"I'm the greatest doctor ever"? Just doesn't translate very well and in their profession confidence is not less important. Let others say that. And just because Ali did it, it doesn't make it, right, you know. On more than one occasion he was quite an ******* in the way he talked to his opponents.

If Hammer makes it into the International Hall of Fame one day I would agree with that. But Ali beat Christy Martin who became the first female boxer inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2016. When they fought Martin was 45-2-2 with 30 TKO’s/KO’s.
I seriously doubt if Hammer would have beaten Christy Martin. And who did Christina Hammer actually beat before Shields in those 8 1/2 years-NOBODY. Again, Ali was 24-0 with 21 TKO/KO fighting 2 minute rounds also.

Ann Wolfe beat Vonda Ward who was 18-0 with 15 TKO/KO and 6-6 when they fought. She stopped her in the 1st round with a vicious shot. Wolfe finished her career at 24-1 with 16 TKO/KO fighting 2 minute rounds also. Wolfe’s sole loss came in her 7th pro fight. After that she went 19-0 with 11 TKO/KO’s.

And they both would have EASILY BEATEN Gabriels whose best win on her resume was against Oxandia Castillo in a rematch after losing to her in Castillo’s first fight as a pro.

And just because you win an Olympic gold medal doesn’t mean you are a great boxer or better boxer than someone that hasn’t. For example, in men’s boxing, there were 9 gold medalist in the Super HW division but only Wladimir Klitschko and Lennox Lewis went on to have great pro careers. There were 25 HW’s that won gold but only George Forman and Joe Frazier had great careers. 23
At LHW and only Ali and Andre Ward had great careers. 24 won gold at MW but only Michael Spinks and Floyd Patterson has great pro careers. The list goes on and on. And Guillermo Rigondeaux won (2) gold medals. How is he making out now?

My rep here is double yours with almost the same number of posts for a reason. You don’t know boxing. Pretty weak arguments by you!!!

You do know that we are individuals here? You are talking like we are one big collective opinion, some people have narratives but so do you with a comment like that.

You obviously don’t know anything about them or you’d know about their KO power. Shields is as pillow fisted as Paulie Malignaggi was. The overwhelming contingency of hall of fame boxers never went to the Olympics let alone win two gold medals. Moot point guy...
