its a twofold risk for bob right now....either way the fight turns out....it could even be lopez beating loma

bob gains a star...but lomas star shines less bright...loma is one of the main faces of the espn boxing program

bob wants to keep them away..let loma shine...and let lopez build and grow....I just cant see this fight happening no matter how much lopez talks it up....bob can have loma as a face of his company for the next few years and build lopez into that next guy at the same time

as sad as it is...someone losing that fight would be a loss for that company even though it shouldn't work that way...if loma lost it would be his 2nd one...and if lopez lost theyd say hes probably good but not great/elite.....

its hard to stay relevant in boxing with losses unless you act like broner

Father time beats all boxers, unless they get out of the sport in time. Some fighters styles age better than others, and I honestly don't think that lomas high energy style will translate well into later age. If a fighter does beat Loma again in the future,it won't be because they were more skilled them him,it would be because father time got to him first.

He may go down if he fights too long like any human being. He's intelligent enough where he'll adjust where needed when he ages and then quickly get out of the game. No one will ever have the abilities of Floyd where he fought bigger guys at the end of his career. The other factor and hopefully this won't offend but not since the days of Ali Leonard Hearns Jones Spinks Holmes Hagler have we seen fast African American fighters who could box slug or have a long stinging jab.

Floyd has never fought an opponent in that mold mostly plodders. Same will apply with Loma. They don't exist anymore.

It's not entirely unlikely that he gets injured during a fight and loses because of it.

He doesn't seem to be getting out of these fights without being injured in some way lately.

So what we have with Top Rank boxing is a world where we don't get the interesting fights we'd like to see because they rarely work with outside promoters.

And when there is an intriguing in-house matchup that could easily be made we don't get that either. Because they prefer to have two stars instead of one.

It's just a game of artificially inflating public interest instead of having the best test themselves against the best.

Roy was probably more talented imo, but Loma is technically more skilled. Everything is measured with him. He will slow down, but not nearly as much as Jones imo.
Have to agree. Vasyl is well-schooled, and technically sound. Speed and athleticism add a lot to his game, but they’re not the whole package. I guess we’ll see if he can make the adjustment as time wears him down; but I don’t see a spectacular decline, a la Jones.

RJJ is like still fighting and hes almost 50. Lomachneko has said he is probably gonna retire sooner than later. If he collects the rest of the 135 belts this year he probably goes back to 130 and then to 135 for some fights but I give lomachenko 3 years tops before hes done and that would make him 34-35.

What's new about a boxer going slowly but surely down hill after 30. It's always been that way for most boxers. Age 30 is already a bit past prime for most boxers and prime is age 24 to 28. Very few boxers fight as well at age 34 as the did at 27 even if they train very hard. So you are probably right. Loma probably won't be as good in a few years as he is now because that is just natural. That's why Ward and Bradley were smart to retire in their early 30s and Sugar Ray Leonard was shot at age 34. There are exceptions like GGG, Hopkins and Mayweather but most boxers are well past prime at age 34 and Loma probably will be also. Anyway he looked pretty damn good last night and he is a great fighter right now. He will probably start to go down hill soon just like almost all boxers do at his age. Time will tell. He is a dedicated trainer and will always be in the best shape he can be in for his age but father time takes it's toll.

Gets older and reflexes start slowing. Gets caught with a punch he never sees coming like Roy Jones.
