Comments Thread For: Bellew: I'm Not Sure Wilder & Fury Believe They Can Beat Joshua

Regardless of what legions of uk fans of Hearn and Joshua say and how they troll the internet in lopsided fashion (not saying you are british I don’t know you) the issue seems to be that wilder doesn’t want to sign with dazn and fight on an app that appears to not have made an impact in the USA in terms of subscription. Both wilder and fury are fighting on networks that can reach the majority of Americans in ESPN and FOX/Showtime and their app and ppv wings. And what no one seems to want to admit that every time hearn says he makes an offer for wilder or for tank Davis it comes with mandatory options for the fight to be on dazn or with a contract to stay with dazn for a certain number of fights....something most of the PBC guys seem unwilling to do. These mandatory “dazn only” offers don’t seem to be in place for Top Rank-Matchroom fighters. Hearn even demands the charlos sign with dazn and Hearn doesn’t even represent anyone the charlos would fight on that network.
I am old enough to remember that dlh first began to promote it was with the understanding that he would not be like Don King, and eventually golden Boy, at that time, became the top promotion in the USA. That showed me that fighters then were more willing to work with dlh than even let’s say king and arum. There are fighters who simply don’t want to deal with Hearn because they don’t like his practices. The truth is Hearn is trying desperately to establish himself as the power broker in American boxing and he is trying to use dazn to do it. He has not signed not one star since forming Matchroom USA, not one. There is a reason why dazn has to turn to skipper to talk to wilder, there is a reason why dlh said “Eddie Hearn is his own promoter we have our own deal with dazn” in reference to the “you must sign with dazn to fight a dazn fighter” comments that were pointed at PBC fighters. Why would anyone at PBC want to have any dealings with Hearn and dazn if this is his approach? Arum and Haymon don’t demand fighters sign with ESPN, FOX, and Showtime to fight their fighters?
The real issue is the PBC fighters 1, don’t want to fight on an app that no one has and get contractually tied to a platform that may not be around in the long run for American boxing as evidenced to the price hike that happened maybe 48 hours after Deontay turned them down. And 2, don’t want to do help Hearn in his attempts to hurt PBC as a brand which is what he really wants. He wants those PBC fighters....when he first came over he made offers to Broner, Garcia, Spence, Wilder, the Charlos, Davis, and of course Vargas, Daniels, and Andrade. He specifically wanted PBC fighters because he saw what was going on in the USA when PBC launched in the time buy days of 2m-6m viewers on FOX, CBS, and NBC.
This of course is ignored by the legions of online troll fans of Hearn because out of nationalism they want to see Hearn replace haymon out of tribalism, they want to see dazn succeed because it’s a british company. They won’t admit this of course but they know it’s the truth.Comment

Bellew speaks the truth. Let's be honest Wilder could have fought Wlad before Tyson Fury did and got all the belts already if he was that good. Personally I respect Wilder more than Fury though. But if Wilder or Fury really wanted the Joshua fight - they would have made it happen. Wilder was trying to get AJ to fight on his (wilder's home turf), and couldnt even produce proof of funds). If you want to fight a champion with most of the belts - you should fight on his home turf!
As for Fury - he wanted 60% knowing full well the JOshua fight would not happen if he asked for that muchLast edited by Roberto Vasquez; 03-24-2019, 09:35 AM.Comment

The problem with that is the American sports fan doesn’t care about the alphabet soup. And Hearn/Joshua are trying to break into the American market. American fighters are unconcerned with breaking into “British boxing”Comment

Tony Bellew is always coming to AJ's defense. It's like they have a weird Bro-mance going on smh There's nothing wrong with supporting a friend but it seems like he goes out of his way to do it for no apparent reason. All 3 guys Wilder,
Fury and AJ have fights scheduled so what's the purpose for the comments.Comment

Buying a belt from Charles Martin and fighting over vacant title can’t make you number one, only legit title he won is the 12 round decision over Parker that was never lost in the ring by furry, so bellews logic only really works when spoon fed to sky sports croniesComment

Nothing much honestly. All he really did was execute the game plan his team set up for him lol. I mean seriously he got the IBF belt against Charles Martin, then he fights a 40 year old Klitschko coming off a layoff and a loss to become a unified champion. After that he beats Parker for the WBO strap. Say what you like about Hearn but he set AJ up for success. I like Wilder and all but why didn't his team go after Charles Martin before AJ did? Also Shelley Finkel, the same guy assisting Wilder now, helped make the Klitschko and AJ fight, so why didn't Wilder jump in on that one? And team AJ and team Wilder were talking about a potential fight before AJ ultimately chose Parker. All I'm saying is AJ didn't really fight any monsters to get his titles but he did follow the game plan his team set up for him. I just don't see why Haymon and Shelley didn't do that for Wilder.Last edited by AdonisCreed; 03-24-2019, 10:07 AM.Comment
