First of all people are sleeping on Pacquiao. This is Manny Pacquiao who has been consistently fighting top 10 ranked welterweights in recent years besides Horn of course who suddenly became top 10 because of his fluke victory. But even if Broner was gun shy against Pacquiao, Pacquiao's performance was still sharp and quick. Clearly he's not who he was 10 years ago but he's still better than most. With that being said, a Spence fight IF it were to happen would be much more competitive than the Garcia fight. Why? Because Pacquiao has been fighting above 140 since 2009. He's felt the power and skills at the higher weights. This ain't new to Pac. The only thing that could come into play in such a fight would be Pacquiao getting old over night.

Can Pacquiao beat Spence? Debatable at this stage of his career. Can he be competitive? Definitely. But you always have the specter of age looming in a fighter's twilight. Pacquiao's legs could go in his next fight. The Pacquiao we saw in his most recent outings could be a no-show in his next fight. That's just a possibility. But I agree with those that want Pacquiao to stay away from Spence. Not because Spence would destroy him but because Pacquiao simply doesn't need that fight.

Manny Pacquiao is a top 5 WW according to most and still is able to dominate at a certain level. Miss me with all the sympathy talk here. Pacquiao can just retire if he is too old and can't compete with the top dogs.

My take is Pac has the speed, power, and explosiveness to make it competitive, but the question is can he match Errol’s pace?

Can't blame Spence for taking this fight when no other Haymon fighter is willing to step to him. With its stable, PBC could easily hold a WW tourney; but finding willing participants seems to be the issue. :/

Spence >> Pacquiao by KO, TKO, or 10-2.

The only chance pacman has is if spence twists his ankle and pacman lands a punch the the ref waves it off not realizing spence was in pain from twisting his ankle.

Pacman should fight Thurman, for the real wba champion.

Spence is too big too strong for manny

You damn right it would be much better than a Spence/Garcia fight. Pac would pour his entire heart and soul into that fight and put his life on the line by making it a fight.

He won't wimp up and cower in fear like Mikey Garcia. However, it's that same fighting spirit that could get him seriously hurt. Therefore it's a double edge sword.

Yes, he would do much better than Mikey but at the same time at what cost? Pac would take a hell of lot more chances and risks than Mikey Garcia did but in the long term it could cost him dearly.

He will absorb an enormous amount of punishment from Spence and at 40 years old his health and well-being is more important than anything.

Spence is just too young and strong for him at this stage of his career. Pac has nothing to prove. He's been there and done that.

Pac is also small for welterweight but at least he maintained some of his speed, enough to make a great matchup vs Spence. Hope we see it next. Spence is not prime Earnie Shavers, contrary to all the hype out there. It's still a good fight, the best matchup PBC can make at 147 right now. I think Pacquiao-Thurman is a much more unfair matchup because the one thing Thurman still has is great prime legs, and the one thing Pacquiao has really lost completely from his game are good quick legs. Pacquiao might not be able to catch Thurman all night and he might eventually run into a huge KO counter shot as a result trying to catch up.

Spence is a little more stationary, which I believe is the reason why PBC and PBC shills might try to steer fans towards Pacquiao vs Thurman, instead of Pacquiao vs Spence. They dont want their golden goose Spence exposed by a 40 year old, even in a win. They dont want to risk that. Which is dumb, because win or lose, fighting Pacquiao brings a ton of name recognition. Horn didn't look good vs Pacquiao but it still made him famous. Spence will still probably win, Pacquiao is still a top 5 welterweight, it would be the biggest win of Spence's career, and a great opportunity for him to become known by casual sports fans.

And style wise, its the best matchup for the fans, not that PBC ever seems to care. Thurman would run from Pacquiao all night, turn it into a chess match and probably catch Pac at some point Until then, expect a boring chess match. Pacquiao vs DSG would be fun too, but otherwise, Pacquiao vs Spence is the fight. That or Pac vs Porter. Those are the two best fights stylistically. Pacquiao vs Thurman, on the other hand, is the second WORST one PBC could make, only Pac vs Ugas would produce a worse fight stylistically.

They should just make Spence vs Pacman, barring the Floyd rematch which Pac would obviously prefer for the money. As a boxing fan I'd be good with either of those. If Spence dominates Pacquiao like Mikey, then it sets up Spence vs the other bigger, younger welterweights nicely. If it's competitive, well no one has blown out Pacquiao so, who cares? That might even be better for PBC cuz Spence dominating Pacquiao basically ruins the Pacquiao contract, but if Spence wins 8-4 instead of 12-0 or by KO, fans will still want to see Pacquiao vs ALL the other PBC guys too. That's ideal for the PBC given the money they're spending on Pac.

                      I'd like to see...

                      May-Pac II
                      Spence-DSG
                      Ugas-Porter II
                      Crawford-Thurman

                      Or if Floyd stays retired:

                      Spence-Pac
                      Crawford-Thurman
                      Ugas-Porter II
                      DSG-Bes*****
This sounds gibberish. To have Boxing Logic you are not making much sense here.
