    He did.
He was easily a 2-1 betting favorite.
But, Sal would have handed him his a $$ if he came in 100%.
Sal just had too much chin and resolve for Gomez.
Gomez was a bully and he met his match.

Actually Tony did struggle to make weight and gained some 17 lbs iirc at fight night.
Styles make fights. RJJ's style was just Tony's antidote .
Can't counterpunch someone much faster than you .
Plus RJJ never stayed in the pocket.

No way, hes one of the best and he beat some of the beat guys from 122 to 126. We'll never know how far he could have gone because he died very young. I personally think he could of been better than Chavez Sr.

Hes in my top ten ever and Floyd Sr. also speaks very highly of him, think he also has him top 10.

Sanches beat two legit HOFs. He is not over-rated.

Not sure I got your post right but if your saying Gomez took it lightly just because he was a favorite I don't agree but I do agree Sal beats him anyways. As far as J Toney guys still put on tons of weight it was either Mungia or Hurd who came in at 177 fight nite after weighing 154 day before that's 23pds.And still no excuse he had recently gone up from 160 where he was killing himself(Tiberi)and this was his biggest fight. He just looked like what you said a man who could not handle Jones speed.Never a big Toney fan because of wasted talent and his PED issues at 190,Heavy.Credit where credit is due though he was one of the most natural fighters ive ever seen he and Duran could fight so well out of shape because they were so relaxed.I swear Toney could fall asleep in there and thinking about it at heavy he sometimes looked like it except Holy fight that he took serious and was JUICED to the gills.

I started post and I don't think anyone is saying SS was not an ATG but not best Mexican ever as some have placed him.Dont agree with Chavez pick maybe a raw Chavez pre 1986 but not the one who beat Rosario.Might also pick A Nelson to beat him in rematch of their fight that took place less then 3yrs after he turned pro had 13 fights and NONE more then 10 at best.He was giving Sal all he could handle and even winning on some cards and that was with 2 weeks notice. Also think A Arguelo would have beaten him in tough fight that he might have been losing thru 1st 6-8rds or so.All these guys are ATG so no shame IF he did lose all 3 still ATG and HOFer.When guys die young sometimes people overrate them but at level that we are talking about(top 50ish all time) showing you can beat all/most styles comes into it and because of early death he was not able to fully prove that imo.
