Comments Thread For: Wilder: I'm With Same People That Got Floyd Where He Went

I know for a fact that Wilder wants the fight. However, it's people like Finkel, Espinoza, Haymon and Deas who believe there shouldn't be a ceiling on a fight of this magnitude.
They feel like it doesn't belong on an online sports streaming app but on linear television where you could reach many more homes. Nor should there be a double rematch flat-fee clause either.
There's no doubt the fight will do much better on Pay Per View than a monthly flat-fee streaming app.
When you turn down 100 million, you better hope everything falls into place the way you think it will or you made quite a costly mistake.Comment

I guess the meeting with Showtime/Fox they blew a bunch of hot air up Wilder's a s s. If he believes that he is going to get paid Floyd money he is delusional.Comment

Wilder took a risk and I hope it pays off. I love the fact that he has to keep winning to get the big bucks. It will keep him motivated. That's why guaranteed contracts and signing bonuses are a negative. I wish Wilder the best! I saw him crush Stiverne and just may be there for the Breazeale fight. BOMB SQUAD!Comment

[QUOTE=strykr619;19600312]NEW YORK Floyd Mayweather's map to superstardom and unprecedented wealth for a professional athlete was all Deontay Wilder needed. Wilder didn't predict Tuesday that he'll eclipse Mayweather's earnings. The WBC heavyweight champion's point was that his adviser, Al Haymon, and Showtime's Stephen Espinoza have a track record of building a superstar among American boxing fans.

Problem is he isn't Floyd.....
That doesn't sound like a problem to meComment

DAZN had an angle. They knew that the only way they could have afford to pay Wilder upwards to $120mil; If they would have offered him several options on his future fights; In hopes of increasing their overall subscriptions. They would have needed at least 12mil new subscribers in order to at least break even at $10 per month. Also, that doesn't includes Anthony Joshua's deal on DAZN either.Comment

I think I would have taken that DAZN deal for the money. But if you really want to be a household name, then I'm not sure fighting on a boxing fan internet channel is going to do it. Who but superfans are going to pay monthly for combat sports?Comment

To just kill your non point though. Zero impact? Fury just signed an $80m deal with a US provider.... Canelo signed a monster contract with a US provider...
Why are US networks throwing huge money at those foreign guys? Because there are no Americans who are active, who can generate the amount of interest those nasty foreign guys can.
If Wilder could he would have his fights on ppv. They are not on ppv. That shows how much belief his team and his network have in him to sell PPV buys.
To try and attack people who are foreign and try and belittle their opinion because they are foreign just shows what a true idiot you are.Comment

Oh they absolutely did, you could hear it at today's press conference. Listen to Espinoza's piece, it's ridiculous. They just appealed to his ego big time and he took that over guaranteed money.Comment
