Its reach and frame size that allow you to land with impunity from the outside, and weight and power that stops a guy being able to walk in, so yes he was better, and yes, the massive size advantage that made him better, as he said himself. ****** article.

So if we are saying that Spence was not just BIGGER but also better in beating Garcia, would we still be saying that if Garcia were a natural 147 pounder and well acclimated to the division as Spence is? Look Spence thoroughly kicked Garcia’s ass. But I’m hestitant to say that it was because of Spence’s skill and skill only that had him winning that fight. It’s to be seen, spence hasn’t fought anybody even with this win over Garcia. Let’s see what happens when he fights a guy his size with skills... I’m not doubting him shoot I think he’s gonna probably wipe out PBCs welter and super welter divisions...

When you do it THAT way, it puts Mikey on the same level of Broner when he fought Porter.

Sorry for your loss

If Pac is really next up then why not just go all in after that and take on Chocalito?

The disappointment is probably that given his elite status, Mikey showed no ability or willingness to try unlock the puzzle of an equally skilled, bigger opponent in front of him. His typical 'stand and box' style was quickly showing itself to be ineffective against Spence, then there was no box of tricks or Plan Bs in his arsenal to deal with it, so we were left with what ended up a rather tedious fight with Spence able to cruise through each round just using the advantages he had without any signal from Mikey that there was going to be any resistance to stop Spence cruising to what ended up a rather easy, pedestrian win for him.
Spence could have changed the pattern of the fight if he wanted to, but he was being offered an easy, pain-free W, so he took it - can't really criticise him for that.
Any criticism does indeed need to be placed at the feet of Mikey in that he didn't ask Spence any questions, and win, lose or draw, elite should always ask questions of the other guy, even if physically outmatched.
Eg. Thing about Canelo/Mayweather for a second. Mayweather outgunned Canelo in too many departments, for Canelo to win that, but Canelo was asking questions of Mayweather all night, it was just that Mayweather had all the answers. Mikey didn't ask Spence any questions, so we don't know if he had all the answers, we're just left assuming he did.Last edited by angkag; 03-18-2019, 10:40 AM.
