Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: Spence is The Truth, I Couldn't Get Rhythm Going

Garcia is a great fighter and P4P top guy, the fact Spence completely dominated him shouldn’t be a knock on Garcia but rather a praise of how good Spence is.
I can only hope this fight elevates Spence and allows him to carry the sport like Mayweather before him.
Maybe next time he fights atCowboy stadium against say Crawford, the stadium will be filled with his supporters.Comment

You said he can barely make the weight what proof do you have of that? Did I miss him having to get down to his birthday suit before because he was overweight and had to step on scales a second or third time?Comment

I think most of you have this fight completely wrong. Yes most of us expected Spence to win but it was they way won that was impressive. If Spence blew Mikey inside of 4 round there would be nothing to talk about. Like Mikey said, Spence completely disrupted his rhythm with his jab and throwing when Garcia wanted to rest or reset.
Mikey wasn't just in survival mode he was completely outside his elements. Mikey's fight IQ was always better than his opponents'. In this fight his fight IQ was non existent. And worst of all for Mikey and all of Spence's opponents from now on is he saw everything Mikey was doing and was able to avoid taking anything meaningful. When he did get hit flush Mikey's power didn't phase him. This was a completely dominant performance against a good fighter.
I'm 100% convinced Spence will beat Crawford if they ever fight.Last edited by HarvardBlue; 03-17-2019, 10:26 AM.Comment

Spence was too strong, and he showed he was skillful as well. But strength was the factor. He had nothing to worry about and the smaller Garcia did. Garcia tends to get gun shy sometimes and only throws if its a perfect shot. He didn't get those oppourtunities enough so he basically never threw.
For the record though, Crawford won't do any better, in fact I think Spence stops him and Mikey has a great chance at beating Crawford as well.Comment

I give him a lot of credit. Not for beating a smaller guy, but for completely dominating the smaller guy.
Had Mikey come to fight, Spence would have knocked him out. Mikey came to just survive and he did.
I do admit that Spence decided not to go for the knock out and chose to box instead. But he did get 12 rounds of serious work in without taking any punishment, which will do him good in his upcoming fights.
But you have to give him some credit for putting on a great performance.Comment

Errol fought smart early. He used his brain in there early. Instead of overcomitting early like I thought he would, he used that pristine jab and fought a chess match in the beginning. He took what he could get to the body early until he was able to gain a stronghold late in the fight. Spence is a complete fighter and showed an excellent defense against an accurate hard punching technician. It was a highly impressive performance by Errol!Comment
