Eddie Hearn on sky sports hinting Wilder has rejected 100 million deal.

He may be the biggest U.S star, but it's debatable as his numbers are totally average, even in his biggest fight. And it's really not saying much in the current market climate - he got a 4m guarantee on his biggest night.
Depending on the numbers we see from this weekend's fight, it could be argued that either Broner or Spence is the biggest U.S draw.Comment

Broner had a 6million gate last time, but of course that was against Pacquiao.
Spence's numbers vs Garcia seem to be trending a lot higher than Wilder's vs Fury.
Wilder had a few OK numbers on Showtime, just north of a million sometimes incl against Ortiz. but he also had some stinkers as a champion like 600k vs Molina and 500k vs Szpilka. Pretty abysmal I'd say.
Pretty similar numbers that GGG did on HBO when people said he wasn't known in the states.
He did 2.2 million on free, but then again Spence did 6million on free once.
So I remain steady. there's a case to be made, also considering Spence just had a similar guarantee to Wilder's last guarantee. When you then consider Spence doesn't have a promotional or managerial agreement, and Wilder has like 4, then it's very clear at least who's doing the better job.
Even if he was the biggest U.S star, it doesn't really mean much as he's really not generating anything noteworthy.Last edited by LacedUp; 03-18-2019, 10:36 PM.Comment

I believe his highest gate was 2.1 million vs Ortiz? Couldn't find the numbers for the Fury fight. Against Stiverne it was less than a million.

Actually, Wilder's averaged about 2.5 million in viewers off PPV since Stiverne 1. That's significantly higher than anyone. Wilder has been fighting on network TV for a long time.
Spence's guarantee was lower than Wilder's for his first PPV although we don't know what he'll get in total--I doubt it'll be $14m like Wilder.
Finally, Wilder's star power is growing by the day. It's not a coincidence he was the highest rated boxer on ESPN's Fame 100 list. Or that he's had the highest rated shows on Showtime. Or that he's the only fighter that was brought back to FOX/NBC before the licensing deals were done. And the proof is in the pudding. Outside offers keep getting higher and higher. We'll see where he stands soon enough, if there is any doubt.Comment

Szpilka (500k): https://www.badlefthook.com/2016/1/2...n-for-showtime
Molina (600k): https://www.************.com/2015/06...s-on-showtime/
Ortiz (1.1million): https://www.************.com/2018/03...wtime-ratings/
Stiverne II (1.24million): https://www.******.com/377339-deonta...-for-showtime/
Duhaupas (2.2 million): https://www.************.com/2015/09...iewers-on-nbc/
Arreola (1.8m): https://www.************.com/2016/07...m-viewers-fox/
Washington (1.86million): http://fightnights.com/2017/02/28/30...les-in-ratings
I struggle to see an average of 2.5 million
Look at the opening line of the Washington report:
Even with an upward trend in the final ratings, Deontay Wilder's latest ring appearance barely left a blip on the mainstream radar.
Right, ESPN's "famous 100 list" had Deontay Wilder as more famous than Luis Suarez and Sergio Ramos too, and guys like Russell Westbrook, Dwayne Wade and Odell Beckham jr
That list you can take and throw it straight in the trash.Last edited by LacedUp; 03-18-2019, 10:58 PM.Comment

Spence had a 6million rating in the past, that's already enough to compete with Wilder.
In any case, the point is that Wilder isn't doing great numbers. I mean, 600k for a WBC heavyweight champ, KO specialist's defense. that's absolutely appalling numbers.Comment

lol no one uses peak numbers. The average is what matters for people who actually view an event. and even if we took the absolute peaks it still wouldn't be 2.5 million.
