Would Brook have beaten Spence if not for the headbutt that broke Brooks eye?

It's nice you like one American boxer. This seems like the Euro boxing equivalent of "I have a black friend so I can't be racist".
Every time an American wins a close decision over a European you're asking for a UN resolution to investigate. It's comical. But there's hope that you'll mature some day and realize that it doesn't matter who or where they come from, it's the act of getting in the ring that's important and takes courage. Enjoy the sport for the sport, not for the nationality involved.Comment

The only pegging going on here involves you. Time for you to bite the pillow again.

The better American won fairly and the quitting Englishman lost. They could fight ten times and Spence would knock Brook out ten times. Brook is a washed up boxer and Spence is the best welterweight in the world. England's other welterweight Khan is about to get knocked out by American Crawford. That fight was years ago and you bring it up now. You are really pathetic with your pro England anti America war.Comment

Given the fact that both guys' heads were moving forward at the time it's not a headbutt. It's a clash of heads. Let's be clear on that.
Had it been called after the 8th round, the cards were:
Byrd had it 77-75 Spence
Parris had it 77-75 Brook
Lopez had it 76-76 Even
Which means nobody was dominating. Spence won the 6th and 7th on two cards but lost them on the 3rd. It was still very competitive. I have always been impressed with Brook's style and his guts. Could he have won? Of course. Would he? Nobody knows and it's useless to say otherwise.
We're also omitting an important fact. Brook himself said the eye was damaged in the 7th. What happened in the 8th made it worse but it's quite possible that without the clash of heads it could have swelled to the same size just by Spence hitting it.Comment
