What is the target number of subscribers DAZN needs in order to break even? They need at least 500K just to pay for Canelo's contract.

They are not trying to break even. They have more money invested in sports content rights in other countries right now then what they have invested in Canelo and boxing in the US. DAZN is overpaying for boxing to get their foot in the door in the US while it waits for the other major sports rights contracts to expire. When that happens they going to bid like crazy for NFL, NBA, ect. They already own these rights in other countries. They have larger content deal in other countries that make the 365M they giving Canelo look like chump change. They just signed Neymar one of the biggest global stars in soccer

The money DAZN is spending in the US is a drop in the bucket to the money they spending to keep launching in new countries with huge sports rights deals. Boxing is a tiny fraction of what they are doing. They have deep pockets and I think their end game is to buy up all the content in all these countries then sell to a Apple, Amazon, ect for a fortune.

how is the guy a joke? he beat the guy canelo is about to fight, drew with canelo in a fight a lot of people thought he won, held his own in a loss to canelo when he was at the absolute height of his powers and golovkin was looking very old. was on the pound for pound list for years and you're welcome to name me 10 better fighters each year during the time when golovkin was in the US.


i get it, you don't like the guy, but to call his resume a joke when he's very likely oging to head to the hall of fame, and who was one of the best five boxers on the planet for years, is pathetic and grounds for people to not take you seriously.

GGG is 36. Took some hard shots from Canelo in the first fight and came into the second, looking way slower and uncoordinated. In the second fight, he took way more shots. GGG going to be KOed in 2019. Calling it!

I don't think they're even trying to make any money right now. Its all about buying up as much content as possible and expanding into new territories.

Jacobs was considered a joke by golovkins own fans "he got destroyed by pirog", "he got dropped by mora ffs", and "who does he think he is" when they thought he was ducking over money

then when the fight was close we had to listen "danny is practically a cruiserweight"

They have not come in to the US market to corner fight sports. They have come in to the US market to dominate sports. Look at the other countries they are active in. Fight sports are their loss leading entry in to the market. Which is great for the fighters.

They launched in the US in what Sept or Oct? By March they have completely taken over Boxing. They have the 2 biggest stars and GGG is probably the next biggest star other then Manny Pacquiao. And not to mention all the other fighters under their stable now. And they did that in just 5-6 months. The only reason they haven't done this yet for the other major US sports is because they have to wait for those network deals to expire. NFL's Sunday ticket contract with Directv will end later this year. There are already reports DAZN is ready to bid like crazy for that.

But like you said Boxing is not their end game.

there was probably a good 2 year period where lara was wanting a fight and lara would have made the best name on his resume

and he never came close to considering it...even his promoter said lara brought no fans or money(like the guys he did fight did?)....lara was known and had headlined a lot of shows in the US on premium and regular cable

but because he was lefthanded and a spoiler they never once considered him....because they liked picking guys they were pretty certain they could KO
