The only reason they haven't done this yet for the other major US sports is because they have to wait for those network deals to expire. NFL's Sunday ticket contract with Directv will end later this year. There are already reports DAZN is ready to bid like crazy for that.

But like you said Boxing is not their end game.
You know more about the US market than me; but as a fight fan, it js grest to ride the wave. We are going to see so many unifications on DZ that you wouldn't see otherwise.

They have global rights for the guys they are signing, in the markets they are in. Its not about getting 500k in the US, its the value of boxing in subscriptions in the territories they are in.

Theyre in 10 territories at the moment, no idea where they'll be in 3 years. 500k subs for the last 2 years of Canelo's contract could end up being a bargain.

It is very possible that Jacobs gets on the bike and keeps tagging Canelo between laps the full distance. But then it would come down to judges' scorecards and Canelo is already ahead there.. Yeah who am I kidding

              • Lets see who he fights in June, Andrade is the perfect opponent, there is no excuses, he needs to regain a belt, or he will go into a 3rd fight with Canelo bringing nothing to the table but his name, and Canelo could make the argument that he deserves the lion share of the actual revenue from the event because GGG has zero assets.

In the long view, no way he makes it through this deal, when he started actually taking punishment in the ring, his layoffs got MUCH longer, a fight with any of the 3 middleweight champions as DAZN will take him out of the game for 8 months at least.

He fights 2 or 3 fights of this deal, he is too fragile emotionally at this point to deal with another grueling battle.

Cotto signed a multi year deal but in reality he fought only 6 months under Roc Nation. A tuneup in June against Geale then the mega fight with Canelo in Nov. He never fought under Roc Nation again took 2 years off when he finally came back it was under a new promoter who he signed with just to get dates to promote his own fighters. Fought twice in 4 months and retired to promote full time. Cotto was 34 when he signed with Roc Nation.

GGG is older already has 1 foot out the door and basically signed with DAZN to get a tune up then a big money fight in Sept if Canelo beats Jacobs. The final 2 years of his deal with DAZN is more about him being a promoter then a fighter I would bet anything that he has no money guaranteed for those back end fights. It sounds like a NFL contract where they tac on all these years but are only guaranteed money for the first 2 years after that they can be cut for any reason and the team pays nothing.
this is right on. i think he'll fight at most 3 more times. one tune up then canelo. which he'll lose. then maybe a low level opponent back in kazakhstan or something.

Yeah that's what Hearn will tell Skipper. Ain't nobody acquiring DAZN for it's fight library lol. You think in 2021, anyone going to be opening DAZN to watch a replay of Canelo-GGG fight from 2 years earlier? Boxing is best for low cost entertainment - Friday night fights and the like. These big deals i.e. Roc Nation Sports never work out except for a small group of insiders that probably charge a bundle for promotional and managerial %'s

                    • GGG still P4P top 5. Andrade wont hurt him. And GGG will probably win that fight based of style and how the judges feel his punches and and hear them.
I really wanted him vs. Charlo but what I saw last GGG beats him by UD or TKO.

Canelo hurts GGG in Sept. Too prime, good and fighting the best to stay sharp...
