This whole scenario is starting to remind me of the movie "The Great White Hype", where in reality the guy has no hope but the promoters and media hype him up so much that people buy into it and start to believe that he actually has a chance to win.

Yes I know that Mikey has had some success at some lower weight classes, but I don't think he's done anything that would lead me to think that he has a chance in this fight. I'm not saying Mikey doesn't have a chance, I'm just saying I'd be absolutely shocked if Mikey wins or even makes it a competetive fight.

I agree with only one of Sulaiman's comparisons for this bout and that's Leonard vs Duran. All the other comparisons were among two evenly matched opponents at the same weight class.

Moreover, for the exception of Leonard and Duran; They all occupied the same weight class at the same time as they were perceived as battles of supremacy for each given weight division.

Leonard/Duran I most closely resemble Spence/Garcia. It's because you have a more seasoned and experienced fighter in Mikey Garcia who is leaping two weight classes in order to challenge a still green and scientifically developing Erroll Spence, Jr.

The same Mikey that quit on Salido is gonna take a dive via a bodypunch ....like ODLH did vs The Executioner

Mikey really is a special talent but he literally picked the one welterweight he just doesn't match up with physically. Spence is taller and has a reach advantage. Mikey isn't growing into the weight and is just going straight to a younger big welterweight with power and a chin. Spence showed in the Brook fight that he is gritty. I think Mikey is so good he could have beaten a Keith Thurman but Spence is just so much bigger and too hungry. How can Mikey win? He would have to land the perfect shot and cut Spence's lights out and put him to sleep. I don't see it happening but I can see Mikey tagging Spence up early. Then again Brook was tagging up Spence early and we saw how that ended. Spence is knocking everyone out. Mikey just went the distance with a lightweight. I just don't see how Mikey beats Spence. I don't see him outboxing and keeping Spence off of him for 12 rounds and see Spence really coming on in the back half of the fight to go for the stoppage. Still, I'll be watching. I won't completely disregard Mikey's chances. He is a top p4p fighter and skilled technician. One of the best so this is a great fight even if it is a perceived "mismatch". I'll probably go watch it at the movie theatres as well. Love seeing movies on the big screen!

I kinda get SSL vs Duran(smaller guy fighting bigger younger opponent)but don't get Chavez vs Tayler or Rosario which was Chavez at his very best.Man the way Chavez walked though maybe the hardest one puncher at 135 in last 35yrs was something just killed him to body(like almost everyone)and then moved up to head and broke his nose and closed right eye.Man that guy had a chin of stone and a body attack like no other.Loved the way his opponents would have one small red spot on right side he could place that hook on the same spot over and over.Hurts just thinking about it.

Yea one big thing Mikey is missing to take on a big, skilled killer in Spence is a special defense and faster feet. Now Mikey has great feet(distance, spacing)but there slow and the reason a fully prepared Thruman beats him all day also.Matter a fact that's the one thing I think Mikey see's he has fought some very good comp but one thing they ALL have in common is SLOW feet(as does Spence).I also see Mikey doing well early fighting smaller, quicker fighters can take a little getting used too but once Spence starts going downhill on him their will be a quick pull by Robert. Its the main reason im not really into fight(but ill watch of course)because I see Robert stepping in AS SOON as Spence starts touching him regular. Its a no lose for Mikey because no one will hold loss against him and if he does have ANY success his fans will blow it up.But if S Lippenets can hit him and move him(Mikey was feeling them shots) then how is he gonna take Spence's who is better in EVERY way over S Lippenets.

I think Robert wont let it get that far.Quick pull once Spence starts touching him up.And I don't think Mikey quit vs Salido but he did not quite act like a warrior either. But has shown no *****s in his heart since.
