It very well may be that was the only date available for that venue. But that fight isn't take any damn viewers away from Canelo/Jacobs. Unless they put it on regular ESPN and some of the older boxing fans still don't know what DAZN is or how to use DAZN.

Eddie Hearn so concerned with Haymon that he doesn’t realize that he’s being slapped around by Arum. First AJ gets kicked off ESPN now this. Arum cried to the courts about ESPN just so he could get a spot lol

They did allow Canelo/Jacobs to be on ESPN last week. Definitely suspect what they did with Joshua though.

It's just competition between the top three. They are after the same free agents and want to be the top dogs.

Arum has though taken more shots at Hearn than the other way around.

Canelo is one of those dates you don't counter program against. But maybe for that fight in particular May 4th was the only date they could get in Stockton and TR isn't worried about ratings for that fight which won't do big numbers anyways.
The fight is more I think just to fill a date for ESPN but it will sell really well in Stockton with Flores on the card.

There’s just so much boxing nowadays it’s going to happen all the time.

It used to be rule of them not to counter program a pay per view. That is why I think Arum moved off December 1 but look at April 20. Crawford Khan ppv and pbc is countering with Garcia Granados

Sure, but in the case of Crawford/Khan, the Garcia/Granados fight was announced months before that one. So Arum already knew they were going to go up against that fight. Not like the PBC announced Garcia/Granados after Arum announced his PPV show.

I guess technically they could have put the Beterbiev fight on Friday a day before the Canelo fight. It could also be that fights airs before the Canelo/Jacobs card even starts, or at least before the actual fight. Wouldn't be surprised if the Beterbiev card starts at 5 pm PST.

The June one might be counter-programming. But maybe the Beterbiev fight is just Arum knowing he has a dogshit fight card to place somewhere and putting it on a date he knows nobody will be watching no matter what he puts on.

Yea we need start times plus maybe the venue wasn’t available Friday or maybe espn has basketball Friday night playoffs

How was the IBF allowed to stay in business let alone remain a major world title after accepting those bribes?

                    Answer: Boxing lacks oversight.

Beterbiev signed with TR and wanted a fight before June. He also observes Ramadan, which starts May 5th. and ends June 4th. This was the only date available on TR's calendar. Good for Beterbiev to get a stay busy fight, and maybe there will be some better planning with his next defense.
