Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Mayweather-Canelo II Could Be a $1.5 Billion Fight

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes WBC, WBA middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez, his fighter is dead serious about setting up a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. And De La Hoya says Floyd has more than a BILLION reasons to make it happen.

GBP has Hopkins. All Hopkins has to say is that Floyd couldn’t step in shoes with age and challenges.

Floyd would only do it for a 300 million guarantee. Maybe 400. DAZN would beg for the rights for this fight.

Come on, this would have been an extremely dangerous fight for Mayweather at the full junior welter division 4 years ago. At middleweight is would be suicide for Floyd, not too mention Canelo has improved by leaps and bounds since their 2013- 2012(?) fight. If current day Canelo was fighting 2013 Floyd at super welterweight I would bet the house on Canelo. Let Mayweather do his sideshows. Real fights will end up being a very bad thing for him. Keep him away from all the prime fighters because he'd end up getting hurt very badly.

Why are these guys still calling out a 42 year old retired fighter? Everyone's trying to piggyback off Floyd's name. Ginger should fight and defeat all the big names and then he can command $100m per fight like Floyd. Why on earth would Mayweather come back when he can make $9m fighting exhibitions with minimal risk of injury?!

Nobody cares about Canelo and the general public wouldn't fall for Mayweather again in the same numbers unless he fights Michael Phelps or some other gimmick.
